Oh god yes. Only joined a gym last year after losing a pile of weight and really got into as I work away from home. Really helped going to something regularly and setting a target.

Found it very difficult to do the same at home.

So will be glad when the 25th comes round.

I know what you mean, it’s only just this week I’ve paid close attention to how much weight I’ve put on

So this week I’ve been strict but with the gyms opening it’s gonna be so much better

I'm thinking of cancelling my membership but I'm waiting to hear the fine details first. Things like if you have to book a slot ~ I'm not organised enough for that, and if class sizes are reduced ~ it was hard enough to get in pre covid!

I am a member of a hardcore gym local to me.

That wont change to much so I will be keeping that membership.

But when I work away from home I use puregym I may cancel that for the same reasons you have just stated

We cancelled ours. I think it's gonna be a nightmare. Ours was a big gym and packed at peak times so I dunno how they are gonna do limited numbers in with time slots.

We have been doing loads of stuff from home with dumbbells and bodyweight and realised all I really need now is a bench and a chin up bar.

We have both been eating well and both look better since lockdown, leaner and more defined. I suppose if you wanna get huge, you will need the gym, not really the look I want but each to their own. I wonder how many will realise they can do it without the gym??

Can't wait to get back, although I do think it's going to be a very different set-up, compared with when they were open just prior to lock-down.

I'm going to join a second gym - that way I can switch between the 2 depending on how busy either of them are throughout the day.

I have maintained working out with dumbbells and bodyweight like yourself .

But I need heavier weights to grow and I can only get that at the gym.

PureGym might be a good bet. They have an app already that tells you how many people are in the gym at any time.

Numbers allowed in

No spotting on weights

No changing rooms

Class size max of 8

40 minutes max per day

Staff chaperone 15 people allowed in 25 members of staff

Not paying £50 for that

I have a puregym membership for when I am working away and a membership at an old fashioned gym for when I am home.

I am worried that puregym may have to many restrictions.

Plus let's say I look at the app and is says there is 60 people in and by the time I got there another 20 had got in .

If I get turned away once I will cancel that membership.

Glad that gyms will be opening, but waiting to see what the new operating systems will be.

If class/user numbers are severely reduced, times limited, no changing etc it won't be worth the fee. Might see how it goes for a month and review things then

Not allowed towels out and machines more spaced more

From what I have read there should be less machines, no heavy weights, no spotting, smaller classes, time slots will need booking.

Not to mention things like the increased cleaning regime, minimum air conditioning to stop covid spreading.

You dont need to eat anything after a workout...theres no such thing as an anabolic window folks....you barely use no more than 300 calories on the harddest hit weight training day...and thats for elite bodybuilder types....you use more calories via cardio....just get on with uour day and eat healthy and within your set calories...ie...calories in- calories out

Very happy to be getting the opportunity to go back to the gym however I’m a bit concerned about how it’s gonna work. We still have a family package so my children can use the pool, I can put them in the crèche whilst I work out and they can go to clubs etc. Plus the spa is my favourite part it’s one of my biggest outgoings and I sacrifice other luxuries to afford it. Now I’m separated it’s gonna be harder to afford. I hate to say it but if my gym doesn’t discount my membership fee whilst I can’t use it properly, as we did before, then I’m gonna have to look for somewhere else

Nope, I've cancelled my membership as you can't trust everyone to wipe down equiptment etc. I'm running 3 times a week and doing 2 tough workouts with my pt (remotely) plus a run on my own over the weekend if I feel like it - realised i don't need the gym.

My very small gym has always been conscious of hygiene and I have been training outside since possible. If you don’t go to the gym then you don’t...but lots of people do and love it - for me it’s a risk I will take. I see lots of very very unfit young people - not for me thanks At the moment both of us are doing about 3-4 hours fitness - keeping us fit and sane X

I've seen my body transform during lockdown. Not to a great degree but visibly so over a period of four months and I have gone down a waist size, or a stone. I think you just have to find a program which is effective yet isn't too challenging that it seems too daunting. I tried around three different workouts before I settled on the third. The only tweak I made was swapping out leg workouts for running each day. Just 15 minutes burns around 250 cals so over 1500 is burned a week. Ideally I'd incorporate a lower body segment but I wasn't enjoying it hence the swap. I keep it consistent and whilst I haven't progressed much, I have become leaner as a result. My philosophy was that doing what I'm doing is more manageable and better than not working out at all. Before lockdown my aim would have been to build more muscle mass but without heavy weights I changed this to becoming leaner during lockdown, figuring I'd bulk once gyms reopen. Getting started is the hardest part but results can come quick too which offer encouragement. This goes hand in hand with a good diet. Eating well fuels a good workout and eating badly counters all the hard work put in exercising so they can each feed into each other psychologically. Working from home has also allowed more flexibility with workout and food intake timings to be more optimal. These can give a small edge and over time can make a big difference in my view. Feel free to message if interested, not that I'm an expert or the fittest person on Fab but I've probably watched dozens of hours of YouTube fitness videos of the years!

Mine opens next week. I’ve been training outside with PT since it’s been allowed. I am a little apprehensive to workout inside, and I know will be when I have been....however...it’s a very very small gym and every precaution will be taken to abide by the rules and with sanitation. I am happy to return though - fitness is my daily physical and mental therapy that I would not be without. I am actually happy not to meet on here atm...but...I need to get back to the gym and support them!
