About time..

The World Health Organization confirmed there is "emerging evidence" of airborne transmission of the coronavirus following the publication of a letter Monday signed by 239 scientists that urged the agency to be more forthcoming about the likelihood that people can catch the virus from droplets floating in the air.

All they have said if you read the full statement is "it can't be ruled out". So not changed since the start.

WHO still recommend 1m social distancing so kind of contrary.

It has been downplayed for months for fear of panic and consequences to social distancing.

I have caught colds in the past by simoly being in the same room for long enough with someone else with it, so why would this be any different.

ZERO social distancing at schools wgen they return, really?

Problems have popped up mainly in food production factories all over the country and in other countries and also in a mattress factory for example so i don't think it is down to one industry in one place.

If this virus really has become airborne and hangs around in the air in the form of aerosols, as they now think, then everyone is at risk of inhaling it and we might as well forget social distancing.

You would only have to walk into the space that someone else has recently occupied to breathe it in.

Compulsory masks might help a bit, but the he only real way to combat that would be for everyone to stay indoors at all times. The economy really would go down the tubes then.

Realistically that is unacceptable. We would just have to let everyone take their chances and wait for herd immunity to take over.

At the end of the day most viral, bacterial, fungal or parasitic agents don’t actually want to kill off the host. It is counter productive to the lifecycle. It is like you have sex in a burning room, you may hit the money shot but you are not going to live to reproduce any further, hence you become extinct!

Now what about if you could keep the host alive long enough to spread and then dispose of them, by say attacking the immune system over a prolonged period until they cannot survive a different attacking pathogen. Say if HIV became airborne. Now that would be something to worry about because herd immunity is not viable, only a cure can fix that one.

No, outdoors the virus dissapates very quickly and it is killed by UV

Indoors is the very worst place to avoid any virus unless of course you seal up your house and live alone.

Much better outdoors in the fresh air

Did always think its airborn, it's a corona virus like some strands of the common cold so only makes sense, does pretty much comfirm that anyone working in a factory is at higher risk of getting it, not many measures you can put it in place to reduce infection risks when your working in a confined space

The post was quietly sarcastic in that "why only now are they warning" that it maybe.

It is rare I have ever caught a cold from being in close proxy to someone sneezing, yet within 4 to 12 hours of being in the same room for a prolonged period of time with someone obviously afflicted, does my feckin nose itch like a dog and the day after, the start of a full blown cold.

And yet, they want us back in pubs, schools, and restauants with a monday to wednesday bribe, screw that for a game of soldiers.

First it was to protect the NHS... it coped.

Then it was to keep the R rate below 1. It is below.

Next was to prevent a 2nd spike. Despite protests, beaches and celebrating football fans.... no 2nd spike.

Weekly death rates are now below the 5year average for the time of year.

So what do the authorities come up with today...... a winter spike !!!

Would you like to live like the Vietnamese a 3rd world country that drinks it’s own sewage sure we could have completely closed the country to everyone no ships no planes no body leave the house or you will be shot would the British public go along with all that they can’t stay in when they told to
