I’m hearing that all visitors to hotels now have to sign in and out with their name and address etc.

Looks like it might make hotel fun a lot harder

This damn virus spoiling everything !

If a booking's made and paid for through a site such as Expedia, booking.com, etc., the accommodation itself doesn't necessarily get given the card details...

We stayed in 2 different hotels (different chains) over the weekend.

1 wanted all information and didn’t even allow non residents into the bar.

The other was much more relaxed and other than wanting to “seat” guests socially distanced in the bar area, they didn’t seem much more interested than ever before.

Think “guidelines” are being interpreted in significantly different ways...

Just an address at the hotel I stayed at in the NW

The pub where I had dinner I'd booked on line but didn't ask if we lived together

And Prezzo for Sunday lunch wanted a name and email address

Oh good god.

If you want to whine about how hotels are currently having to run - get over yourselves. They're having to run how they are to not only protect you, but to protect hotel employees too. Staying well is a bit more important than a casual shag.

It has to be available upon request at Reception - Data from a CC would need a letter from the CC to the bank to release the info'. Which would take more than 21 days to process.

I'd assume this is for those hotels where visitors who aren't staying overnight, are having to sign in on arrival and signing out when they leave the premises.

It then allows the management to track how many people are physically in the premises.

As for those staying overnight, it's a legal requirement to sign in, via the Registration process, even though your address details will have been taken when the reservation was made either online or via the phone.

If anyone refuses to supply their address, the hotel can legally refuse to accommodate the person.

That latter instance however, happens very rarely, as the vast majority of guests do so all the time. I've only once refused to allow a booking in, in my my career because the client refused to give their address data.

The barbers I went too just wanted a mobile number. I think there are a variety of ways of doing it. I don't think a hotel desperate for business are gonna ask to prove that you're from same household or in a bubble etc

The hotel I work for, will resolve the issue of non-residents being on site, by not having any at all allowed in.

It will be Residents only till at least the New Year.

Restaurants have wanted phone numbers and name from me.

A hotel I stayed at didn't seem to have known that it wasn't still March! Speaking with 1 staff member his knowledge didn't seem to have been updated by training, although he's not been on furlough as it stayed open. Owned by an international investment company, so perhaps paying staff to be trained would have reduced their profits

No one was allowed to get in the building to reception, except with difficulty. Very bizarre.

The police seems to publish clearer guidelines for the public.

The trade body has swamped their members with information and advice. The bigger chains should have standard procedures to follow across their estate

If you have booked a twin or a double, they haven't got a legal leg to stand on to stop you bringing a guest, the guest can be your bubble any one and from anywhere in England

The only thing they can insist on is the contract tracking information which ever way they choose to go about it.

From what I've heard in the business, "day let" rooms won't be as easy to book. A lot of hotels, especially the chains & groups are limiting their usable rooms, to around 30%-40% occupancy, plus have reopened with a fraction of the staff numbers they had before lockdown.

With the more than stringent room cleaning required now, day let rooms will place extra strain on daytime operations.

We are hoping to get back to our usual hotel chain soon as we can arrange it. I've had emails saying what they have in place to protect the staff and guests. They get the contact details when you book, have never asked for more than the name on the booking previously, no mention of this made in the new system

I am certain details woukd only be offered when there is legitimate reason to ask due to Data Protection and sure they have other things to worry about than you being there.

Our favourite hotel in Scotland opens 1st August. So bit of a wait yet. Think we will try it together alone for the first time.

It's the same where we have our Lodges (with hot tubs of course!) in Lincolnshire.

You aren't allowed onsite without filling in their online Track and Trace form.

Yes know a cpl who booked room and invited 3 guys for fun . But the guys couldn’t go in they were stopped at reception and sent away . Hotel fun is not going to happen for a while
