So it seems travel insurance doesn't cover cancellation due to Covid, but does give medical cover and repatriation due to Covid provided the foreign office advice doesn't preclude travel to the country you're going to.

Presumably that means if you catch Covid and can't travel you're screwed but everything else is normal

My travel insurance covered pandemics as long as WHO or foreign office advised not to travel. I guess they will all be different. Unlikely any new policy will cover though.
