Isn’t it irresponsible for the media to label the opening day this? I mean.. I am hoping that my fave greasy spoon cafe decides to open! But I fear some people are going to use it as an excuse to go mad

My exact thoughts, I can see the headlines now ‘Shame on you Sunday’ with pics of crowded looking pubs or people lying d*unk in the streets with paramedics helping them

This just shows how manipulative the press are ...

Today they are talking about ‘super Saturday’, hyping it up to what we know will be carnage...

Then on Sunday reporting and deriding the ridiculous behaviour they have helped incite.

I’m sick of the media frenzy, stupid and biased reporting - we now see the media Forcehsg they really are!

It is especially as we know Brits are a nation of drinkers but a recent poll suggests that the weekends opening will not be a successful as first thought. A lot of people are still worried about going out during the pandemic especially to pubs and restaurants.

Personally I don't go to pubs but if I did, would it be worth going to a pub for an hour and 45 minutes? I'd rather buy a few and go to a friends house or invite people to mine.

And as for getting out off our heads. It won't happen because by the time you reach the third pub you'll most probably be refused entry if you look half cut.

And do remember to check that the pub/bar you intend to go to is open. Quite a few are not opening to avoid having to ask people to leave or refuse entry.

How about Europe brought to a hault due to "a gibal emergency" whilst promoting and having the unassuming folk out there celebrate the so called "Victory in Europe" day.N othing curious about that at all, no sir.

If pubs round here are anything to go by you have to book in advance to keep numbers down (is that in the guidance issued to them...? It should be). You DO have to show ID and leave contact details on entry. It is table service only.

All these measures should keep a lid on things mostly.

I'm sure there could be some of the usual idiots around. Even some venues flouting regs?

And of course the government will get the blame and not the morons responsible

I think they should call it swerve Saturday, from what I've seen on Vine, it's going to be the most borin anti social night ever with the bar "sit down police" and definitely a none starter for singles who go out.

I think a lot of folks are going to be underwhelmed on Saturday

I'm clearly bucking the trend on here by having a hotel stay and meal out on Saturday to catch up with friends

Chosen a large hotel that will be reopening on Saturday but at reduced capacity, and with the leisure facilities closed. No meals in the hotel

Meal in a very nice pub 5 mins walk from the hotel, only letting people in who are eating and with pre booking only

First time I've been out since mid March but I'm comfortable doing so

I've not been to the beach or for a riot in the meantime either

Trouble is the government has worded its advice very carefully taking the responsibility away from themselves and handing it over to us....... is it it stupidity from the government or a very well orchestrated move to encourage spread and hopefully develop herd immunity like they initially said they would do??????

Might of made some think twice, about over indulgence, if they had to work the next day!

Yeah but if he had done that and the weather forecast is right you would still have people on here saying he should have opened the weekend when it was pissing down and kept people home.It will never be the right time for some.

Ahh was just thinking how tough it will be for those working in the industry, if people have one to many and they start stumbling around, all over the other customers!

Showing a bit of empathy, stupid me!

I don’t think it’s going to go mad at all. Personally I can’t be arsed going out and I miss my friends a lot. They all feel the same way too.

I don’t reckon it’ll be the carnage that the press are hoping for

Agree, it would also let the novelty wear off gradually.

I do think it's ok for pubs and restaurants to reopen now, leave it too long and too many will go under.

Although I'm not sure about what I read in the news earlier about some pubs being able to open at 6am tomorrow!

I'm also staying in a hotel with reduced capacity, no food etc, I will be going to a swingers club to socialise with friends, I will be drinking but have no intention of getting hammered.

There are people who can go out and be responsible without causing any danger to others.

Maybe they think on a weekend it will stagger everyone going to the pub rather than a weekday evening when everyone goes in after work.
