Dont know how many times in the last few weeks about folk I know who are very worried about their jobs

Dont know how many there is talk of redundancies everywhere

I worried what the long trem inpacked is going to be on everyone

Then all this talk of apps to go to the pub and the like there are folk out there who havnt even got a moble phone who havnt the know how to use them

Im worried it going to make to two tire system where folk are not going to be able to do stuff out and about

For eample folk with lreaning problems

then the shops and the like who are not takening cash they are wanting to you to use apps and your cards

There are folk out there who for what ever reasion cant use both

There are folk out there who world is dependent on the use of cash

Its is frighteing what is to come so come on folk what do folk think

Really don’t wish to be a prophet of doom but I fear we are going back to pre industrial revolution days. Middle class wiped out, only the wealthy 1% , and the rest of us peasants!

I think your assumption is valid in this situation. With a big recession on the way and furlough being reduced/ended the loss of jobs is going to come. With that it's going to be a general reduction in numbers on many levels so there will be a reduction of middle class and a increase in poverty. This will allow the top end to stay in their domain while most will have to fight for jobs in a shrinking market. The only saving grace in this situation is the fact the virus has affected most of the world so in places the economic repercussions should balance out

There are very tough times ahead especialy for those with young families, new mortgages students I guess, all have my sincere sympathy but we will get through this but all the modrn protesting and moaning will hold us back.It is time to grit your teeth and graft are way back.

Ok you will say easy for me as retired and greatfull I am but pensions do not grow on trees, and decline in ociety is very worrying.

Time to unite I think

It's likely to be the case that divisions could increase, which is sad. Whilst millionaires control things, with their wealth the only 'talent', I think it's time for the people to assert themselves more than before.

I think we're in for difficult and very different times. Im lucky, have a few pensions, am IT literate, use a smart phone; Ive not used cash for months now and always prefer to use a card. I acknowledge tho that cash is important and vital for many people but suspect that its useage will be reduced in the future. The 'recovery' is based on business getting back on its feet, not about addressing social imbalance and injustice....

And before anyone comments on retired people being ok....our savings will become less, the value of our pensions will reduce and I fear our increased need for support from health and social care will not be met.

I prefer to look on this as an opportunity for change.

If people live in fear of this crisis, impending doom awaits. However if we all grab life with both hands and make up for lost time in the best way that we can, the economy will bounce back, business opportunities will be created and life will carry on.

Recessions are caused by the fear of spending. People hold on to their money instead of spending it, there is then less cash in the system which causes businesses to go under. Businesses go under, unemployment rises therefore there is less money in the system, more fear, less spending - and the cycle continues....

It’s simple economics, supply and demand. Stay away from the pubs and restaurants - they will close. Stay away from shops, they will close. Don’t renew your gym membership, it will close.

Covid has made me appreciate what I have, what I can do and how much I need the things I take for granted (gym, golf, pubs, restaurants, friends, family, my job to name a few).

It’s time to get busy living - which in turn will help create opportunities for those who have sadly lost their jobs at the moment.

Stay positive

There’s a lot of negativity in this thread, and some comments bordering on irrational conspiracy theories.

We’re in control of our own destinies and futures - both as individuals, as a society and as a world. But focussing on just yourself - why would you think of your own personal future as so bleak?

Sure it’ll be hard but we can work through this and get out of the other side. There are huge opportunities to progress and transform so many industries now - we’re already behind the world in many areas and this gives us the perfect opportunity for millions of us to retrain or move into different professions

I love the rainbow coloured bull crap so called positive thinkers have to feed themselves on a daily basis. Intelligent people still have reality to contend with. So while you sit in your own filth thinking happy thought, practical people will be trying to fix the problems we have created.

Who says positive people are not Intelligent people? And what’s all this about sitting in filth?

What is it that you do exactly, that’s “fixing the problems we have created” ?

All the powers around the world .

Have not got a clue about this virus.

It going to be with us a long time.

We should start to except lock down as normal.

I've not seen herd anything to do with having it under control.

But come 4/7/20 every we're back to normal.

After a week or too

Its just dawned on me (after enjoying a round of golf with a friend, calling to Asda for some cold San Miguel, and eating some post-panic bought pasta) that many of the lost jobs are ...

Zero hour contracts which are - imo - the root of all evil.

Covid might actually be a reset button for a better society - maybe?

If you zoom out and look at things from a wide angle perspective, we are already in a very different place.

A&E admissions - lower than ever

Crime - lower than ever

Fires - lower than ever

Workplace stress - lower than ever

Public - exercising more than ever

Pollution - lower than ever

Car usage - lower than ever

Coal fired power generation - lower than ever

Catch my drift...

We are now living in a different world,

Do we really want to go back to what we had?

Or start something new?
