A friend of mine was due to marry overseas yesterday. They’ve been planning and saving hard for over 2 years for the wedding that they always dreamed of. It’s been postponed until 29th June next year (its a special date that means a lot to them) which gives them something to look forward to but tests was hard for her and her fiancé

I know someone who is still getting married she was so excited because she thought she could have 100 guests, when she found out it was only 30 with no reception her heart broke a little bit. They've decided to still go ahead. I think I'd postpone!

Just seen this, that is brutal but looks like necessary at the moment. I think I would cancel if I was wanting a big wedding

i think that list of rules is brutal..... you could argue its easier to open up a swingers club than it is to have a wedding...

although... if people have ever just thought "fuck it" nows the time to elope and you can use covid as cover

p.s just not to gretna quite yet... forgot what side of the border it was on!!

Marriage isn’t about a big wedding spending £30K etc on it. It’s about love. If I was to get married it would be down to a register office and a chippy tea after with very close family and friends.....it’s about each other and the commitment you are making. Too many people get carried away with the plans....only my opinion for what it’s worth.

There'll be a queue at the border to get in.

In an ideal world, your wedding day should be something to remember for the rest of your life, so why risk marring that memory with the recollection of someone who died because they got a bit too close to someone.

Put it off until you can celebrate in a nicely memorable way...

Agreed. My wedding cost £1600, 17yrs ago. I’m now getting divorced. If I’d paid 30k I’d still be paying it off now probably
