Just wondering if the Covid pandemic had struck when you were 18 years old. Knowing what you were like then, would you have kept to the Government lockdown restrictions?

Yes I would have kept to them. They were universal restrictions for all ages and obviously for the greater good

At 18 I felt invincible as you do at that age,we change as we get older

Yes I would have, as would my peer group. Without Internet, xbox, Cod, mobile phones and only 4 TV channels which finished at midnight ish... No deliveroo. No Sunday or 24 hour shopping... No Kay burley whining every morning..

I was already in the armed forces at 18 so used to discipline so yes I'd have followed government instructions.

Not a chance that I would have followed advice when I was 18.

And now I am in the tut tut age range it's easy to forget what it's like to be young. I talk to my kids and it usually starts with "Back in my day" or "My da would have kicked my ass for doing that"

But I still dehaved like an idiot.

We do stupid things when young and it still goes on.

Only difference now is no slap around the ear for doing it.

So the wee barstewarts think they are invincible

I think you're right... I'd have hated it but also as I was under my parents roof, what they said went...and they were war generation so new about privation, rationing and proper lockdown. Being asked to sit on a couch isn't the worst.

Plus I think I was that blootered at the time I don’t think I would be able to remember it

I'm not sure I would have. I was 18 in 1979. The year of The winter of discontent. Thatcher elected as Prime Minster. Punk still around. Respect for authority was low.

Ps Was the craze of CB radio back then. Not that I got into it.

This is not entirely hypothetical for me. If SARS had been more transmissible... I was 16-17 and living in the Asia Pacific (Australia) when it was raging. It never got closer to me than the news, but it scared the shit out of me.
