On the bbc news this morning they are interviewing dr arif and she commented that once government advice is stated to GP's then she will be issuing sick notes to anyone who needs to continue shielding that has been asked to return to work.

Some more protection for the vulnerable hopefully

I feel very lucky to work where my employer is happy for me to work from home, or to choose to return after Aug to a relatively safe, protected environment where my vulnerability is respected.

So many shielders will have to make difficult choices; I'm glad GPs will have the option to protect them further.

Interesting, thank you. My employer are not being good about this. I’ve not received a new letter and they are insisting that if it doesn’t arrive before 30th June I must return to work on 1st July. I spoke to my gp who told me to tell them I don’t need it and to tell them to read the government website. Managers are not listening, they seem to think that their management training course makes them better qualified on medical matters than 7 years in med school

I’ll be phoning my gp again on Monday and whatever happens, I will not be returning to work before the advised date of 1st August
