Strange

Find it so strange that we keep see posts from venues & people saying along the lines of:-

Not long now...

Can’t wait to re open soon...

Back to normal soon....

Etc etc, mmmm

We are 3 months into a lockdown that may last until 2021 before normality for clubs resumes, so in theory we are 1/3 of the way into it, strange....

Your key word being May.

You don't know what could happen, but I can't see anything stretching to 2021.

Not sure what people are seeing in general but lockdown is over, people have gone back to work, people are traveling all over the country and people are meeting for sex.

Politicians can think they are in control but truth is they lost control weeks ago by keeping everyone in the dark.

It's called hope and trying to stay positive.

To be fair on that last point, it was a power cut

And since we don’t know what could happen, it may stretch to 2021 for the reopening of clubs.

Some people are meeting for sex. It’s definitely helping me to recognise those that are ignorant and have poor impulse control. Those that I have no desire to ever meet and definitely would never wish to play with!

Yes, I'm finding it to be a really useful filter.

Central

I think it's the nature of the beast. It's a global phenomenon that reached different places at different times, some with worse consequences than others. Global news relays progress from everywhere, with even places such as Florida having most things back open already for a while. Places in Europe are relaxing ahead of us.

Our progressive relaxation is now also telling us what's coming, so people are ahead of reality. We're told bars, restaurants, hotels likely open in the first week of July. Most places people go to, apart from gyms, will then be somewhat accessible. Old habits and mindsets can be hard to die. I think that may be especially so if we've not experienced something that's very protracted and doesn't recover effectively or fully. Long wars, recessions, political coups, severe health crises etc. I'm fortunate, I've experienced very little national traumatic change. The early HIV crisis which devastated the gay population and scene was perhaps closest to my life.

People blinker themselves too, seeing what they want to see. Thankfully the scale of the problem is currently smaller than it was. Though it's at such a tiny level that it's unlikely to become devastating to the same degree again. It certainly could, due to how we act, made easier by the moee relaxed changes the governments pushing through quite quickly now. An announcement on cutting social distancing in half due this week. People will see that as being at about normal. I guess some will want to interpret that as if the danger is as good as gone.

Potentially dangerous times. Thankfully many people are very wary of us not being cautious enough. That herd mentality may help to keep us safe.

I keep hearing this 'when it's sage' line but nobody seems willing to define safe.

So, what is it you're all waiting for...

- The virus to go away completely (unlikely to happen, ever)

- A vaccine (that is likely to be then middle or end of 2021 at least)

- Permission from some politician to go and do things again (the most likely one)

We have all got to start facing the uncomfortable fact that this virus is now part of our daily existance, like it or not. We can suppress it but at what cost, socially and economically?

Are we really willing to become virtual hermits indefinately to suppress a virus that for most isn't especially serious

"Clubs will be open by Christmas for sure. Theres a lot of scare mongers out there."

**” Clubs will be open by Christmas for sure. ”**

You have no evidence to support that.

They may open before Christmas, or could be after Christmas.

They are unlikely to open while we are still at Alert Level 3, more likely when the alert level drops further.

Hard to predict when it will drop, as that depends on the R rate, infection rate etc.

Gyms and pubs round here never really closed.

People also said that you won’t be able to go on holiday this year but look where we are with that now.

Truth is nobody knows what’s going to happen and it’s now a lockdown in name only.

If the second peak does not appear then I expect a new normal back quick than predicted.

I'd still say it's your own choice weather you want to go out to pubs / holidays / meets just like it was before

Therein lies the problem, if there were less selfish barstewards in the country maybe we would be seeing infection rates amd deaths much lower by now.

I agree.

People can blame the government for not imposing a lockdown earlier but that’s fine if people stick to it.
