The alert level been reduced from level 4 to a 3. Far from over but a big step and good news on the virus front.

Hopefully no 2nd wave and will just be pockets of outbreaks like the flu in winter..

I should think it's a bit of both. It's a judgment call as we live in unprecedented times where there is no road map. I just think we need a bit of luck, like a really good hot spell to help keep us all out in the outdoors.

Signed off by the heads of public health in all 4 nations of the UK. Seems to be that there has been a wait for the scientific evidence. No doubt some in government would have gone earlier otherwise.

I've been saying that to a few people, it could easily just die out, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

One thing about this pandemic, it's taught me to appreciate my life more and that I'm actually a pretty positive person.

Cant see it..this one has caused too much upheaval.

They may target certain areas if there is a spike but cant even see how that would work.

Sooooo,dispite the packed Southend beaches last month,and now week 3 of the London gatherings, there is still no sign of the so called second spike,imagine my supprise.

although the highly paid media experts and doctors keep saying its coming,it isn't.The narrative will now move to its coming back in the fall twice as hard, It won't.

A lot of people on here moan and groan about the governments response but somehow or other the virus seems to be on the wane, not sure why or if it will stay that way. This is against a back drop across the rest of the world where there is a huge surge in cases and deaths, record numbers yesterday.

I think by and large we should thank our lucky stars we are born and live where we are as it looks to me as if the virus is running rife in many countries with a lot of potential to wipe out millions. If we get away with 50 to 60 thousand we will have got off fairly lightly.

But a very substantial number of those deaths are from Covid 19

Yes good news, the situation seems to be stable but the number of infections and deaths is not reducing quickly enough for complacency. And the virus may be mutating and becoming less dangerous, that would be great, but there is little evidence given that most people are still taking precautions and the numbers are just stable.

What are you going on about?

No they don't. The figures are lower on Sun and Mon do to hospital data being delayed, but that has been the norm since the beginning.

I have not read that but did hear it on the radio hourly news while driving

They mentioned it in one of the press conferences too

My mum used to say that lol. I once told a man in Camouflage pants that I could still see his legs. He wasn't very pleased - I put it down to the quality of his Camouflage.

This week's incidence figures suggest that COVID cases have continued to fall across the UK, which is great news! New daily infection rates have dropped by 26% from last week's figure and the R-value is holding stable below 1. However, extra vigilance is needed in London and the South East where these figures have dropped the least.

Good news in Northern Ireland

The Department of Health COVID-19 dashboard has reported that today, the 20th of June, is the first day since the 10th of March with zero new COVID-19 cases.

Over the last 7 days, 25 individuals tested positive out of the 5,964 that were tested, giving a positive test rate of 0.42%. This is low in an international context.
