This quarantine is a farce. When we should have done it four months ago, they didn't do anything. Now that continental Europe has fewer cases they've put this in place. Utterly ridiculous. But what do you expect form a gvt that has fucked up everything from day 1.

I'm not against appropriate travel restrictions being made but this generally wasn't 1 of them. China has imposed restrictions this week, which is a reasonable control, assuming that their government knows more than we do.

We have the competing interests of reducing the levels of virus infection here and sustainability of the economy. I favour the need to improve health prospects and respect others wishes to relax barriers to the economy.

As Europe is increasingly a lower risk than other parts of the world, it seems sensible to permit easier travel and allowing returning residents to be able to work etc. I'd probably have a testing on return programme for those from high infection areas.

The thousands of jobs in the travel and hospitality sectors need changes like this to provide them with greater security.

If something is not put into place in October when the furlong scheme finishes the hospitality industry will be finished resulting in mass unemployment.

I’m not quite sure how worse Labour would HAVE been. I don’t know how any gvt could be more inept than this lot. I’m sure Labour would have looked after people better. In a pandemic what matters is looking after people. The tories don’t give a toss. No remorse about the number of deaths, no apology, no remorse or admission of mistakes. Just lies and spin. Name anyone who hasn't broken lockdown rules and the list is short, we are all human and have social needs be it family, friend's or neighbor's

To restrict any contact with loved ones is and has been a farce.

Schools are to reopen on the 29th in Wales where pupils will go in for one day a week, they expect children to follow strict social distance rules but the only reason children are looking forward to go back is to have interaction with friends. This is human nature and no one can change that

"Apparently it’s now in force for July/August.."

The trickle of drip feed news this week is that we're discussing air bridges with other countries, where each country wouldn't impose a quarantine for those who arrive. Uk citizens returning wouldn't then need to quarantine either - but would if returning from others, if the UK extends this new 2 weeks quarantine after June 29th. Portugal is the most discounted country. Spain is a possibility. Sadly not Germany .

At least Wales is planning to open up for more travel

If you already have an annual travel insurance policy and renew it, it will cover you for Covid. Also (if you are over 50) I see SAGA are selling travel insurance to include Covid and you don't need to be on a SAGA holiday to buy it.

If you have an EHIC card when travelling and are treated by a government health service medical facility, such as an hospital, services should be at the same cost as local residents pay.

Every country has a different service to ours, with some residents having to pay.

It's important that we ensure that we are treated in government establishments through, as private commercial hospitals etc will not be in the scheme. This is especially important in some countries, as ambulances may take patients to private facilities - this is common in Cyprus, for example.

Even in government run facilities, there may be certain options that aren't free, when the basics would be, so we also have to use caution when they ask us what we'd like. Private rooms, ir being treated by lead specialists are amongst the options that could increase what we'd pay, as it would also for local residents.

If covered by your own private insurance, get them involved at the earliest point, as they will stipulate how you should be managed.

,

Should have said claimed it off insurance. We were taken by ambulance to a general hospital where they stitched his head up and sent us away. No charge. He was poorly the next day, so went to a more local private clinic, where they treated him for the chest infection. Just pointing out how expensive it can without insurance

"Thanks for the reply.

We have EU passports that's why we never had one.

They are not insurance . My husband had a fall and had his head stitched up, had chest problems also, had xrays , found to have chest infection. Meds and treatment, kissed goodbye to €400 ,

Should have said claimed it off insurance. We were taken by ambulance to a general hospital where they stitched his head up and sent us away. No charge. He was poorly the next day, so went to a more local private clinic, where they treated him for the chest infection. Just pointing out how expensive it can without insurance "

Up until dec your E111 should cover you for any emergency's.

I understand that, my concern was that he was sent away with a head injury, rather than kept in overnight for observation. He had a high temperature which was obviously the chest infection

"FCO advice is still not to travel unless you have to at the moment. That means that if you travel abroad you won't be insured! Until that changes we won't be going anywhere.

We are still in the EU so with an EHIC card you could get free medical care."

You can thank Brexit for that

"This quarantine is a farce. When we should have done it four months ago, they didn't do anything. Now that continental Europe has fewer cases they've put this in place. Utterly ridiculous. But what do you expect form a gvt that has fucked up everything from day 1. "

Agreed, its overblown and bollocks am I or have I followed anything, I do as I always have all my life..What I want to if you are fit and healthy there's nothing to worry about, I don't know 1 single bodybuilder that's had this virus and a couple of my client's WORK for the NHS, one a Dr and they have told me themselves it's been blown outta proportion, that's from workers of the NHS

"Anyone heard when the list of countries will be made public?"

I think I saw an unspecified day early next week mentioned. I think the current controls end on the 28th,when it was to be reviewed. It was s ridiculous measure, costing us dearly, preventing people from planning etc. I'm assuming Spain and Portugal will be amongst the first.

2 NHS workers is hardly proportionate to the thousands of NHS workers who don’t believe it’s been exaggerated

Agree. The quarantine law apparently should last for one year with possible travel corridors. Practically the government is trying to decide whether or not you can go abroad!
