Cromer

A friend of mine has stage 4 lung cancer and has been having his immunotherapy at a private hospital when all staff have gloves, masks and aprons on.

He has to go to the local hospital for a scan today, first time back at the NHS hospital since this pandemic started and he was shocked that not one member of staff was wearing and PPE at all.

I found this strange seeing as from tomorrow it will be compulsory for all those in hospital to wear a mask.

Just seems weird to not take precautions when this hospital is treating patients with covid19.

They should have isolated "green zones" which are covid free... so no need for specific PPE

If that's the case why the new rules to make it compulsory and why are they all wearing them at the private hospital where they don't have covid19 patients?

hiding from cock pics.

You could only be sure somewhere is covid free if everybody there is tested, and no new people can enter, plus it was prevented from being carried in on any food or equipment. Otherwise I don't really see how anyone can be sure that it's covid free any more than the train we might take to work etc.

Exactly my thinking, made no sense to not have staff wearing PPE, especially when very vulnerable people are going in for scans.....

Central

There has been restricted availability of PPE through health and care services, so they may have been limited due to this. It's a risk for the staff, who have suffered as well as sometimes known that they could have infected others

Unless that hospital is asked, we'll not know.

One last day before they spend what may seem like an eternity in a horrible uncomfortable mask where they can't hear each other properly and feel all claustrophobic, hot and bothered. Can't say I blame them.

I'm on a covid free ward and have been in hospital since Friday. All staff have got masks and visors on. Patients on my ward have been told we do not need to wear a mask if we don't want to.
