what have i learnt from this thread...

the time to have the conversation about "race and inequalities".... never!

its not the time when someone gets murdered, and it snot the time when people are loud and protest, and its not the time when people were peaceful and taking a knee

there is always something that comes up... its never the time....

people can live in their blissful bubbles and because its never happened to them it doesn't happen...

or people try to frame it to justify.....

or use whataboutism.....

or deflect or hijack the there... oooh big shiny object!!!!

the thread is very telling.... because you have seen all those tactic in one thread....

so if you could tell me when exactly is the time to have this conversation... which has been going on in this from world war... thru the windrush generation... thru the rise of the 2nd generation black people and the 80's riots..... thru stephen lawrence and the 00's.... thru to now.......

tell me when it is the time to have this conversation.... i'll set it in my diary, i'll be there!!!

ineqalities in healthcare, in jobs, in education, in income, and yes in aspects of policing ect ect ect.....

least racist doesn't mean no racism isn't going on... so stop giving yourselves a pat on the back!

you can do better....

i feel like i am saying the same thing in every bloody single thread! yes it is an uncomfortable conversation to have, but if anything is going to change then you have to start by looking inward and acknowledging the fact you have a head start based on the colour of your skin....

I think when i was writing that i had finally got to the stage of if watching a man being c hoked to death doesn't push the needle... and we had been here in the same place before with eric garner, then nothing will get done

Here's some whataboutery though.

If a mass shooting in a primary school cannot change gun control laws in the US, how will some protests change the actual practice of racism when just one more black man has been killed?

It takes leadership every day in word and deed. It's a moral question.

Neither the USA or the UK has leadership with the qualities necessary to affect change even if it wanted to.

Mrs N and I have had some lovely conversations and times with people of all nations. Personally I've always tried to treat people exactly how I would wish to be treated myself so cannot for the life of me understand how anyone, unless they were in a psychotic trance would murder someone by kneeing someone on their neck.

Bad times ahead I fear..... Sorry You had to die George. Hope you are in a good place now and one day we might have a conversation up there with the big man in the sky.

it shouldn't be.... but what is happening is that some people see "i want my life to mean as much as yours, and i want my childrens lives to mean as much as your children" as an attack on them!

after all... share the wealth, share the spoils... right?

but we know there is a general inequality in the wealth and the spoils!

as long as people not to acknowledge the inequality... and what people do is use "whataboutism" and deflect/hijack.... then its not worth having the conversation!

thats the stark reality... i'm done sugarcoating it... now its time to be blunt!!

we tried having the conversation by shouting loud and proud.... and we tried having the conversation thru peaceful protest and taking a knee....

apparently there is "never" a time to have the conversation.... its always "well when we are done dealing with x/y/z, then we will be ready...."

nope.... enough is enough

you are either part of the problem or you can work to be part of the solution...

This seems a good thread to post this, what I really dont understand is that so many of the people saying all lives matter (not just on here) repeatedly demonstrate that they dont actually believe that at all.

Refugees, asylum seekers, they're not welcome here but all lives matter.

Homeless people, well they're not our problem, probably just druggies or they earn thousands and aren't really homeless, but yeah all lives matter.

Trans people, well if they want to identify as another gender I'll identify as a penguin, because I'd rather belittle them than consider that they matter.

People in poverty, on benefits. Fucking scroungers. They're living the life of luxury, they don't matter.

So when you don't give fuck about other people you're talking bollocks when you claim all lives matter. We know what you are really saying is black lives don't matter. And worse for most of you it's not even hate, it's just born out of selfishness, out of entitlement and not giving a fick about things that don't directly effect you.

So if your response to ths is all lives matter, maybe start giving a fuck about people so at least it sounds slightly convincing
