The concept is great, as has worked here before and in other countries which have been more successful against the virus than the UK.

The issue again is how the UK has gone about it. Ignored local resources until the last minute, outsourced to inexperienced private operators, not learned from how it's been done better outside the UK.

We seem totally determined to show ourselves as stupid and not wanting to properly care for the vulnerable.

It's also been said the UK govt has chosen a system which hasn't been fully tried and tested, whereas optional systems in use elsewhere globally, have been proven to work.

It's also been recognised the UK system doesn't work with all phone types & models; the other global models do!

The UK govt hasn't sorted out what to do with people whose phones aren't compatible, or simply don't possess a mobile phone.

It's a bit messy, to say the least.

They aren't using the system which needs a compatible phone . Which would have found phones which had been within 2 metres of a person who as tested positive . They fudged it and went for this system. Where someone who tests positive are asked who they have been near recently.

Not much point asking anyone on the beaches or at the protests. The app would have found them but track and trace wont

How do you work that out my works are refusing us sick pay if we have to isolate I cant afford time off with shitty ssp for 2 weeks it won't pay my bills

That's why it will never work the government are passing the isolation bill on to companies.

I’m talking about the people working for the Track and Trace scheme yesterday’s news had couple of them on saying they worked on the system all week and have had nothing to do all day. And others not even able to log on to the system to be able to work.

any app wont work on my fone.watsapp stopped working in january.have a ten yr old samsung so operating system on it well out of date.can make calls take pics and listen to music thats all mine is capable of now

I asked my boss how we would get paid should we have to self isolate a week ago, still waiting for a response. No one will do it if it's only ssp.

NO it's not reality ... government can pay ppl wages to sit at home for weeks but wont pay 2 weeks forced isolating ... erm so yer think I will pick paying my Bill's and feeding my family thanks

Ohhh sorry and government cant force your workplace to pay you full pay while isolating yet I have been working for weeks making them a profit in this pandemic but they wont pay me if I have to isolate it's wrong and I'm really annoyed at it !!!

Over 5000 new infections every day and they have nothing to do! Another Boris bodge job. Gvmt was told in February to boost the test and trace system.our 'world beating ' system wont be up and running till August or September. Piss up and brewery comes to mind.

I'm wondering about the longer term when the COVID19 has been conquered and we are allowed contact.

Will the app be totally disabled or will people continue to be tracked without their knowledge? I havn't heard any assurances about what happens next.

Even if the phone has been 'switched off' (but still active - how do you know?) it could be enforcement agencies could track you and who you may meet and if you are tracked to a known 'meeting place' will the guardians turn up to stop whatever might happen.

I was very surprised when I went into Google on my settings on my phone to find the there is covid tracing already there, though I haven't knowingly downloaded it.

I think it will only switch on if I download the app as well, but there is now some thing in my phone that will respond to it that I haven't knowingly downloaded and can't remove.

There's loads of services on your phone that form the operatimg system upon which apps depend. They are automatically downloaded and can be used when you download an app

the thing is EU law states under GPDR that the "user" must be aware and allow data transfer. This isn't the case with this covid nonsense and with Brexit i'm betting GPDR will disappear.

what's the betting the "vaccine" will have an undisclosed nano tracing chip in it too....we've been microchipping pets for years and even the US has a inserted nano chip for healthcare access.

I've got 2 spare non internet phones here if anyone's interested. lol
