So we have schools back most shops opening and even the shielded allowed to go back outside.

So as we are hearing...when do you think the nhs will open for essential work.

My doctors is still almost out of bounds...as if I have a chest infection it's a over the phone convo and antibiotics given without a listen to my chest. Jeez 4 months back they would not consider giving them without a examination.

Then there are all the operations that have been put on hold for months.

So when do you think it will open back up.

Your thoughts?

Hopefully soon, I know dentists are reopening on 8th June so I expect doctors to do the same

Yeah I saw that but I would have thought that the normality of the nhs should maybe come before the lifting of a lot of the lockdown measures.

It all seems a little rushed to me.

I got a phone call from my local hospital yesterday I had an MRI postponed 2 days after lockdown.

They want me to change from County to Nuffield to help with capacity on the scanner - of course I said yes.

They asked me:

Have I got Covid or symptoms of Covid.

Do I know anyone and share space with anyone who has covid.

Will I testify to those answers

She then said that it will be 2 to 4 weeks for the Scan.

So. Yes. They are on catch-up I think.

Had a camera down the old chap about a month ago now. Albeit in a private hospital. I then had to go have a CT scan two weeks in an NHS facility as they didn’t have one at the private hospital they told me it was business as usual for them.

Postcode lottery again by the sound of it.

Ps Camera down the old chap isn’t that bad if people are apprehensive.

I've actually received a letter this week about a cancelled hospital appointment and it's been rearranged for later this month, so they are beginning to open up again in Scotland.

Was a bit of a surprise I must admit, as I wasn't expecting anything until August at the earliest.

I've been to hospital twice during lockdown and due to go again this week so they are open for business. I should add the appointments have come from an urgent referral by the doctor.

I had an urgent overdue injection today, the nurse said that they had a meeting yesterday and are starting to prioritise for when regular things start back up again such as blood tests. She said three weeks or so.

Had a phone call from the hospital 2 weeks ago and had my appointment last friday, so they are definitely opening up slowly. Temperature taken before you could go to treatment rooms and lots of hand sanitizer was being used.

We know how stupid the general public are as seen by recent events. So I can't blame GPs for wanting to keep appointments remote. All that will happen is someone will come in with a cold or even COVID then all of a sudden all the GPs will be in isolation for 2 weeks.

Gp nurse.. Absolutely no idea.

We have no screens for reception.. What about waiting room.. 2 are mixed building.. Carpet floors.. Not to have.. Clean down ++++ more so after each patient..

actually we manage what we do over phone video chat now.

Some ladies clinics have been transfered.

It makes some sense to keep clusters of sick people well apart, especially when many are higher risk elderly people. It may be being left to local health groups to decide, I'm guessing, as there's no general info that I've seen.

I'll go along with this as while some seem to be getting to see the gps.

I for one am having a struggle.

I think 1 of the five tests to come out of lockdown was to not overwhelm the NHS...I think it sould have been to having it back to some sort of normality also. But yeah I feel it was all one big rush to cover DCs jellies.

Working in the NHS i cant belive the difference in a&e waiting times and bed capacity, goes to show how much the system is abused.

Not for a second saying on this thread has or does btw , just saying the difference is unreal.

All the silly a&e admissions for a cut finger , brushed knee , d*unken idiots, drug abuse , headaches/ belly aches - the things we get you wouldn't even start to belive unless you have witnessed it

As a dental nurse (working in a high risk urgent dental care centre) I can assure you any “general check ups” you get from your dentist with out FULL LEVEL 3 PPE PROTECTION will be against all advice from the chief dental officer.

There is a reason dentists are closed or only offering phone advice we are in the HIGHEST risk group for contracting this disease!

When was the last time you got 15 mins with a doctor. "
Credit where it is due - I get a 15+min GP appointment as required. I even had an unsolicited telephone check-up last week - wonderful service - Thankyou. (Sad Acute Hospital services are so woefully bad locally).

Are you aware of problems in sourcing the appropriate ppe?

Been using temp filling kit for weeks and tbh would gladly buy some to give to staff to get it sorted..

They will only open if they can conform to new guidelines which are constantly changing (practically daily) PPE is available but masks have to be individually fitted for every person and this takes time. It is also not a case of one mask fits all, it can take time to source different types and will a small dental surgery be able to cope with the cost implications of this??

Patients in ICU are sedated and not coughing freely all over staff. Staff also have level 3 PPE. When I say highest rate of infection for profession I mean before PPE levels were changed for staff, which is why dentists won’t just reopen as they did previously.

I got taken off my long term antibiotic because it’s been used for covid patients and there’s a shortage of it. I’m prone to water infections and I don’t really bother going to the drs, just let them flush through lol. I got a bad one a couple of weeks ago and my dr didn’t even flinch, just gave me the prescription after barely a two min chat. It’s never been so easy to get anti-b’s for a water infection

I was due to have a knee replacement on the 13th March it was cancelled the day before, I totally understand that it’s going to be sometime before my op will be happening as there are a lot more people in need right now,

I will just keeping taking the painkiller and wait my turn.

I work in gp surgery. This week has seen the nursing staff seeing patients more face to face. Smears.injections bloods etc but gps are still doing phone consults and apperently are doing this for distant future but will call pts in for f2f if they deem it reasonable. Also plans afoot for sept oct flu season to run clinics where we do a drive through or walk in flu clinic as they expect a 2nd wave in autumn due to lockdown being lifted too early and idiots not adhereing to social distancing in parks beaches etc. The NHS is going to suffer for sometime yet

Lockdown is still set to continue for a lot of businesses.

The final swathe of companies and business types is set to reopen from July 4th, including the Hospitality industry, within which I work.

But, we have seen the basic draft guidelines required for opening up our premises, and they are TOUGH, to say the least.

Parts of our business trade probably won't be allowed to proceed till September/October at the earliest.

We, as well as other similar businesses will have to meet the requirements of a Covid19 Free Licence; if we don't, we cannot have that Licence issued & thus legally won't be permitted to open!

Hotels and their one time traditional ways of working, are going to have to change their operational styles!

I work in an operating theatre, we haven’t closed, we’ve been doing red flag cancer surgery since it all began.

Patients are isolated for 14 days, then have a test, if negative we operate the next day. Also started doing minor waiting list ops, eyes, carpel tunnels etc all of those also isolate for 14 days and are tested.

All staff and patients have to go through triage on entering the building as well.
