Bloody labyrinthitis!

I've been really careful with only going out when necessary, barring a drive to the seaside last Sunday when we were allowed to go a bit further. 25 minute drive,took the dog to a rather industrial bit of the Suffolk coastline to avoid the crowds on the nice sandy beaches.

Done all the handwashing, social distancing and so on as advised. Then woke up 2 hours ago dizzy and nauseous, threw up and self-diagnosed labyrinthitis following the NHS website info. Quite alarmed I've managed to catch a viral infection despite my limited outings and precautions. Makes me worry more about Covid-19 now!

Had this before and can be really nasty. You need a go diagnosis to get the right treatment.

I've had it a few times and it's awful. The first time I had it it lasted seven weeks.

Search on YouTube for the Epley manoeuvre. It really worked for me.

Oh no! I’ve had this before and it was a royal pain in the arse. It does go eventually, though... I think I had it for about 4 weeks. I hope it eases off soon, as another poster mentioned maybe the epley manoeuvre will help?

Only ever suffered from this once and it came on as I was crossing a busy road. Just made it to the other side and held onto the railings for dear life as I thought I was going to pass out.

Even though it was 8am in the morning I'm sure people thought I'd downed a few with my cornflakes!

Thanks for the comments everyone, managed to avoid the nausea today by being very careful about not moving my head. Just a few bouts of dizziness when I couldn't avoid it. Tried the Epley manoeuvre but as getting down and moving my head to the side triggered a horrible bout, thought I'd try again tomorrow!

Got escorted for a short walk around the village playing field, looking a tiny bit mad doddering around gingerly, but it was good to get out and see the sunshine. Supposed to be working tomorrow, think it'll be from the sofa or bed with the laptop and I'll give up if it's bad. Got Wednesday booked off already so hopefully be a bit better by Thursday. As I quipped in a message, didn't really have plans this week so hanging around the house is fine genuinely gutted to not be able to drive though, it's always a big freedom thing for me to know I can hop in the car, even if I rarely do. But I'm grateful that I've not been sick again, and that it's been a lovely day x

I've had labyrinthitis and it is not pleasant.

Could not walk straight because of the dizziness and could barely see.

Fair play to you being able to type with it, even looking at the screen would make me puke.

All I could do was lay down eyes closed.

It is the worst thing I have suffered ever

A viral infection causing inflammation of the inner ear, though it can be caused by bacterial infection, but viral is more common.

It causes nausea, dizziness, sickness. You can't walk or see straight, It feels like you have had a skinful tbh.

I had it for a week but I know someone who was floored for 6 weeks with it.

This goes on continuously sorry to say. I've had it 10 years. Dozens and dozens of bouts. Comes and goes whenever it chooses. Go get it properly diagnosed before you say you have had it please

Mine was diagnosed, had antibiotics as it was bacterial. Luckily not had a problem since

But yeah, agree on the self diagnosis thing. There was no way I could type and certainly not walk around the house let alone outside unaided or not

It can get worse, if its persistent or keeps coming back, look up Menieres (not advising google self diagnosis). Lifelong condition that comes and goes unexpectedly but is horrid.

Had to lie down in dark room all of yesterday, just listening to audiobook. I had to give up trying to work on Tuesday as scrolling laptop screen made me feel worse, about to try again

I had this six years ago was off work for three mi this I get regular bouts as I apparently have a cronic condition, I lost 80% hearing in one ear and 50% in the other, I couldn't, read, watch telly definitely no driving I listened to the radio and did jigsaw and had a moving chair to get around the kitchen to cook. Accept lié down to it till it passes nothing else you can do and get medication usually two weeks to start with.. Good luck not nice

Dizzy and nauseous could be anyone of a number of things and if you haven't had contact then 90% probability it's not a viral infection you need to contact a gp not a computer or a swinger site as it could be extremely serious.
