"Two things have wound me up today. Firstly you may have seen the White House press briefing where an Asian American reporter asked Trump why he saw the comparison of figures between countries as a competition. Trump, in his usual waffling style said "maybe you should ask China" in his long-running blame game tactic. Ok, a stupid answer from a stupid man but the reporter came back with "why are you saying that to me specifically", well, it was you who asked the question! You could tell that a lightbulb came on and she had the thought to turn it into a personal racist attack on her. It wasn't, that idiot would have given the same answer to anybody that had asked the question. It was an attack on China, yes, but not a personal attack on her. Please don't think I'm supporting Trump in anyway, he is a detestable man but it winds me up when people use claims of racism to create a situation. In a similar vein, Bryan Adams had a rant about the likely cause of the pandemic being the wet market trade of animals. He is now being called racist for that attack. Does this mean that somebody can't criticise a practice that occurs somewhere other than in their home country without it being deemed racism? As far as I can see he didn't refer to the nation or the people. If he came out with an rant on the clubbing of baby seals in his home country then presumably that would be perfectly acceptable? I'm fed up of being told "oh you can't say anything about that, it's racist", no, I don't give a damn about the race of a person, if they are doing something wrong then they deserve criticism and fair play to Bryan. Episodes like this actually cheapen the cause for the many justifiable claims of racism. I hate to break it to you but Donald is well known to be a racist, misogynist, homophobe, antisemitist and islamaphobe. The other day he told a non-aryan to "go back to your own country". The person was a native American. That is ironic in so many ways. Asking China a question is to ask a geographic area a question. How does one go about doing this? Does China have a phone number or email address? Trump was asked a straightforward question which was relevant to the USA. Why is he not able to answer a perfectly reasonable question like the one that was asked? In his latest rage, he has accused the Democrats of "rigging" an election in California by providing a voting station in a remote area..... the station was requested by the Republicans. If Donald Trump is such an honest person why does he refuse to hand over his tax records after he has been subpoenaed to do so? As for Brian Adams I would also like to ask how Japan has returned to whaling with not a peep from the world and while China is condemned, Japan is given a RWC, Olympic Games and Seawolf declared a terrorist organisation. Please don't patronise me, I know only too well that Trump is one of the lower forms of life. My point is the journalist saw an opportunity to make an appearance on the world stage by making a claim that DT was only saying those things because of her ethnicity. It was just a cheap shot that she knew would get her name across the world's media. As I said before, acts like that degrade the cause of people fighting racism in the world. And yes, Frank, it's the old adage of "your enemy's enemy is your friend"!" Oh please. I watched that interview. The question was about the the death rate in the USA. The only relevance China had to the entire situation was ethnicity of the reporter. He then refused to answer the reporter who he pointed to next when that reporter seemed to side with the first reporter. He then stormed off. and then whenever asian journalists ask him questions he does have a knack of asking where they are from before answering.......

"Bryan Adams is correct " Bryan adams has clearly never been to a wet market. These are the equivalent to our town center market stalls and American farmers markets. Only they are in enclosed space/building not open to the elements like most of ours. Most also don't sell any kind of meat just vegetables and are a lifeine to the poor. That said some are filthy and some spotless Some have traditional/ethnic/exotic meat. China is big country with varying levels of economic prosperity and traditions. I don't agree with it all but you can't tell another country what they can and can not eat. I went cage diving with Great Whites in South Africa on March 7th 2020 (got the vid on drop box) we were so lucky and had 3 GW sharks on our dive 1 juvenile 2 adult 4.5 metre males. Sadly sightings have dropped dramatically and we were the first dive in 30 days to get Great whites. What was once shark alley and GW tourism is now relying on bronze whaler sharks filling in the gap. The rate of Sharks been killed 100 million every year is unsustainable. For example great whites take longer than humans in terms of age before they reproduce. Take out the apex predators and the ocean is fucked followed by the planet. Ocean Ramseys documentary on shark fin soup is heart breaking. Sadly Covid19 is but a mere tiny dress rehearsal for the fate that awaits our grandchildren unless humanity as a whole now gets together and changes course.
