Can someone clear up if it's ok to have a drive into the countryside? The news says you can but the PM said that fines are being increased for lockdown violations. If you can drive into the countryside are there restrictions on the distance?

No. But can only exercise on your own or with members of own household (as before). Back to work IF can still maintain social distancing. If you cant...then don't.

PM said the fines were for not obeying the rules of social distancing.

But seemed to imply it was okay to go out further from where you live.

Any indication of how far you can go? It's one thing saying you can but some guidelines would be good.

According to the bbc there is a 50 page dossier being announced in parliament tomorrow with all the guidelines tweaks.

You can drive anywhere out of your immediate area for exercise now as long as it is only a day trip. So basically as far as you want to drive there and back in 1 trip!

You can stay outdoors all day if you want to. So this means people can make trips say for a nice long walk in the countryside or costal paths.

Also be aware that this is NOT the case in Scotland or Wales, so if you live IN England you can only drive places IN England and not cross the Welsh or Scottish borders!

You must still adhere to the social distancing measures when out and about!!
