Hi all,

Lots of discussion about the new tracking App being trialled on the Isle of Wight.

Is it a waste of time seeing as it needs a large uptake ( at least 50%) by the public to have a chance of working?

Why are public health England not involved more in tracking and tracing rather than outsourcing this to nefarious entities?

Newcastle upon Tyne

That’s got to be the big question - what are they looking for?

Central

The government closed the localised teams that were responsible for tracing contacts in March, so we lost staff with perfect expertise from tracing people who may have since passed it on to hundreds of other people, possibly with some of them now dead.

There's no reason to rely largely on tech with limited trust and potential problems as the major tool.we should have been recruiting and training people from March to supplement the staff that we already had. It's clear this virus is around for a good while, so any recruitment would have been good longer term involvement in helping health as well as the economy.

I for one won't be using this. God know what data they will be tracking.
