Driving during lockdown

Is any one like me still working full time and saving so much time because off how quiet the roads are, home to solihul normally at least a 2 hour drive now an hour and a quarter steady drive no need to speed and so relaxing compared to normal. I work all over the country and I'm home so much earlier each day.

Central

Yes, similarly it's been good to have the roads quieter. It's likely improved fuel economy too and possibly pollution, with reduced stop/starting. The A38 has been good

"Yes but A lot more traffic in London than week 1 and 2"

Yes as the building sites have started to open and people are driving in as wardens not giving out tickets in the city unless you are causing a problem, and some car parks are free as well.

Taking me 45 minutes to do a journey that can take up to 2 hours in the evening to home depending on traffic

I’m still working full time. The building I work in is really old and you can hear every car that goes past and at what speed.

I’m not impressed at the volume I hear during the day

Been working full time since lockdown, was a dream travelling to and from work but now staring to see a much higher volume of traffic gradually building up again.

I amazes me the amount of twats on the road, still break the speed limits, still tailgate you, etc.

Don't they realise when they crash, they will be going to a hospital that has covid-19.

Driving the same journey to work and back doing the same thing and now a 25% improvement in fuel consumption simply because there’s no traffic.

I get your point even if it's false news

I'm getting to work in 20 minutes instead of it taking an hour.during the while I'm driving though (I'm a CPN) there is a lot more traffic pottering about.

But thats due to other places now returning to work such as construction sites etc.

Speeds have certainly increased locally.

Not necessary so;

Scottish Hospitals have many COVID-19 free hospitals, keeping the virus out to focus on other patients.

In Perthshire Perth PRI is a virus free hospital and all cases are sent to Ninewells Dundee.

The first 2 weeks were pleasant. Nobody on the road and if you did encounter someone they seemed okay. After the 2nd week, traffic stepped up and the last 2 weeks I've noticed heaps more traffic, they're dangerous too. It's almost as if people have forgotten to drive. Pulling out of t-junctions willy nilly and completely oblivious as to what's going on around them.

But when we have good weather I've been on the motorbike so they generally get left behind.

Try earplugs, you'll sleep better too
