"Should cyclists and runners give more than 2 metres distance where possible when passing someone? I ask because I had a guy cycle past me this morning dam near touching me and when I said that wasnt 2 metres his argument was that he was on a bike. Would it not be the case that when peddling a bike or running you are more forcibly expelling air than you would when walking and thus any water droplets or sweat from them would go further? " I try to give pedestrian a wide berth when out on the bike, sadly not all extend this courtesy to others. I have had a go at several twats. Riding close to me.

"Runners can be a pain in the ass because they don’t want to stop to let people pass safely. Running along pavements and swerving out into the road because it might effect their time " Afraid I agree. There seems to be a divine right of joggers that means everyone else has to go around them. As for the vapour trail they’re leaving along often narrow pavements...

"It doesn't matter if you are runner, cyclist, shopper, walker or whatever! We all potentially have the same risk of catching COVID-19 as each other! My point being you are whinging about the Cyclist potentially passing COVID-19 to you, but equally the cyclist could have caught it from you! It is about all of us respecting one another." You're missing the point. Which is that this cycle list, like many other cyclists and runners, are passing people too close. I'm as far over on the footpath as u can get, these people have had room to pass me with appropriate distance but chose not to for no other reason that I can think of other than not wanting to deviate from the line they are on. I might well have Covid and be A typical so I move over as far as I can, would it not be appropriate for everyone else to do the same? I love the word whining too

"I really don't think a cyclist passing you for a couple of seconds should cause you any concern. If they stopped and coughed in your face, then maybe, otherwise don't worry about it. " I'm not panicking about it, sure I pulled the guy, but like I said above I think he should show the same social distancing as everyone else if not more. I was done with my second comment but I seem to be having to defend my decision to want to follow social distancing rules and avoid any chance, no matter how small, of catching Covid. Yes, I should probably stay in I'm sure you're thinking but I need exercise.

If your that worried about it stay indoors and isolate.

Maybe cross the road if a car with roof down drives down the road, and definitely wear a condom in the bath, you never know

You've more chance of being knocked over, so maybe don't cross any roads " I thought this when i read the comment about vapour trail from joggers... if people are that concerned really i think would be better off just doing laps of their living room or garden

" I would imagine (although my spacial awareness is shocking so who knows) that he was further from you than you think , if only for the reason that if he was close enough to be dam near touching you, that would be a high risk of being knocked right off that bike and having skint knees and being embarrassed in front everyone else on the path ... much more likely that would happen than catch covid from a 2 second cycle past

"Cyclists should be on the road If he/she isn’t and pass me under the distance, then expect to be knocked off If a jogger passes me under the distance then expect my foot to swing out and them face planted n the pavement " You do realise that there are huge parts of the country where designated cycle routes share paths with pedestrians

"I think a lot of people lack spatial awareness to know what two metres is. " If you're close enough that you could touch if you both stretch your arms out, then you're too close. If you're close enough that you could touch them by just stretching your arm out, then get the fuck further away!

"Yes it is a case of runners and cyclists expelling further Distance should be further" Actually the reverse is true and it is becoming increasingly acknowledged outdoors is safer than confined areas

"The 2 metre rule us arbitrary and has no logic or science behind it. " There's science behind it alright It's for people who are too stupid to figure out what's safe and what's not so the goverment had to give them something

There's science behind it alright It's for people who are too stupid to figure out what's safe and what's not so the goverment had to give them something" In France the rule is 1m so it is just a figure plucked out of thin air. The further away you are and the shorter the time, the lower the just of getting infected. It goes from fuck all chance to absolutely fuck all chance of catching it. If a cyclist spends about 0.1 seconds within 2m of you and you are worried, then you must have very little else in your life to worry about.

I was pointing out that to an OCD they would be worrying about it. It’s not something they choose consciously, it’s a compulsion.
