I see a recent flight from Dublin to London was virtually full - zero social distancing.

Not much chance of beating the virus this way.

I wonder why those on board accepted it?

Any of the passengers could have turned around and walked back to the terminal building. It just shows that most people realise that it's just not that dangerous and they just want to get on with their life.

But someone somewhere in an expert position has given the OK for this to happen.

I don't think a multi national airline just said fuck it who's up for a jolly.

I can bet there was some sort of disclaimer that was in place if you chose to board the flight.

The latest study in Germany suggests a case fatality rate of 0.37%. If you are under 70 and reasonably fit it doesn't matter if you catch it because you have practically f**k all chance of dying. If you are over 70 and/or unhealthy then isolate. It's simple. Driving costs lives but people still do it.

The right thing to do will always be cast aside in favour of money. It’s the sad fact of life.

People stayed on that flight because they had paid their cash. If they felt strongly they would have decided not to travel.

Airlines won’t take responsibility- they can’t afford to. It is going to be down to individuals to consider their own health and decide for themselves.

Airlines always have and always will pack you in like sardines.

Seen the photos inside plane. And this is why the government does not want to relax the current status. As demonstrated people or some just revert straight back to as we were. Not really helpful to easing of restrictions.

The Ons are saying that in a five week period to the end of April the increase in deaths over the last five years equates to 42,500..

The last two weeks figures are the highest on record..

The claim that your peddling won't be proven or not proven till we can compare this years deaths, covid confirmed and other with previous years then a direct comparison can be made in relation to seasonal flu..

So yes people do die and that is life but this virus directly or indirectly has increased those deaths..

Btw, people such as doctors, nurses and care workers do not die in the numbers we have seen nor do bus drivers and others etc so for those people using the phrase fairies is a bit uncalled for..

Does anyone imagine that when they booked their flights they thought there would only be 6 people on the flight ?

Would they have been happy to pay £1200 instead of £70

What of the plane had crashed

What if none of the passengers had Covid 19

What's going to happen with London underground

Will we all die anyway

Would a tinfoil hat help

Is it time to move on

Will we still queue for an hour and a half outside tesco when it's raining

What's for lunch

Have they not adjusted their seating density?

Arrivals in the UK should only be travelling for the same reasons as the rest of the population. Likewise travelling to the airport here would generally not be amongst the valid reasons.

Anything up to 50% of the air is recirculated, but that depends a lot of things. Such as how clean the filters are, is the system working as it should be, how old the plane is.

I would not get on an aircraft at the moment.

The airline should be prosecuted!

Anyone refusing to get on due to lack of social distancing should get a refund!

Anyone contracting COVID-19 and survives should sue the airline.

To be fair part of life is about risk assessment.

Every action from getting out of bed carries a risk.

Moving forwards you can see the risk of COVID-19 being a responsibility of the individual once restrictions are lifted.

I imagine most people on the flight including the whistle blower wanted to get somewhere and were willing to risk it despite any misgivings.

So unless every person on that plane wears a mask and goggles and doesnt adjust or remove them for any part of the journey they are open to catching the virus on a plane so there fore makes it pointless having social distancing on a plane only safe way to fly is if your the pilot and don't take any passengers.

According to the CEO of Heathrow, if social distancing was applied at airports, the queue to board a large airliner would be 1 km long!

"

on the national rail network you are basically looking at a saturday service running....with about 10% of the normal monday-friday passenger levels....

so if you are commuting outside of london, the network is not in bad shape.....

I'm sure the passengers would have expected at least some effort from the airline to apply social distancing.

The airline has a duty of care towards it's staff and passengers.

If a passenger contracted Covid19 on this flight then the airline could be held responsible and sued.

The difficulty of course is proving that the virus was contracted on board the aircraft - the airline knows this.

Imagine if during ww2 the government had told everyone to lockdown in their houses until the fighting was over because if anyone went to the frontline and tried to fight the enemy, they might get wounded and overwhelm the field hospitals.

People who go to work regardless of personal danger are fighting to save the economy because, believe me, the economy is going down faster than Gillian Taylforth in a Range Rover. If people don't start finding some fighting spirit this country will be screwed financially for years to come.

But back on topic ...my first though would have been are the ferries still running?

Any of the passengers could have turned around and walked back to the terminal building. It just shows that most people realise that it's just not that dangerous and they just want to get on with their life.

Most people thanfully realise that there are stupid people whi think that because this is not dangerous it ensures the selfish and the stupid will go on flicking every thing you may not die but YOU may need hospital it WONT be available if its FULL up

Those 'stupid people' are probably the ones getting on with their work and paying the taxes to enable furloughed people to sit in the sunshine all day complaining it's too dangerous to go back to work.

Aye that's what us furloughed people are doing.

What a prick. My mistake, maybe you're busy gardening or doing DIY."

Maybe I cant wait to go back to work.

You can go back to work, if you are furloughed you can apply to do a different job without affecting your furlough status.

I think people blaming individuals on this post are missing the point it's up to government to make the laws them people might desperately need the money but if their company is not in furlough they won't get paid anything

I think an awful lot of people are going get the opportunity to work for someone else quite soon, once Rishi Sunak starts to reduce the furlough payments.

Not that dangerous? Really? Yes I want to get on with my life like anyone else but not at the cost of more lives

The latest study in Germany suggests a case fatality rate of 0.37%. If you are under 70 and reasonably fit it doesn't matter if you catch it because you have practically f**k all chance of dying. If you are over 70 and/or unhealthy then isolate. It's simple. Driving costs lives but people still do it."

The lethality rate in Germany is 0.8% and they are coping better than other countries, including the UK, because they started dealing with this faster than other countries. They also have 28,000 icu beds compared to the UK who have 4000 and they have 25,000 ventilators compared to the UKs 5000.

More capacity for treelatment and dealing with the virus sooner rather than later is obviously going to have a major effect on the legality of the virus.

Comparing the UK to Germany is apples and oranges. Italy and France are in comparable situations although the UK was even later than them in dealing with this.

Germany have also had a bit of luck in that 70% of their cases are between 20 and 50 which we know helps reduce the death rates. Germany themselves are worried about a major spike if the virus infects more of the 50+ demographic.

Driving doesnt kill nearly as many people as this lethal virus so, again, it's not a fair comparison.

so comparing the uk to Germany is not fair because Germany invests in infrastructure is that right even though we have had this government for 10 years and the 2016 test proved we were unprepared

Driving doesnt kill nearly as many people as this lethal virus so, again, it's not a fair comparison.so comparing the uk to Germany is not fair because Germany invests in infrastructure is that right even though we have had this government for 10 years and the 2016 test proved we were unprepared "

100% the severity of the situation is on the tories. My argument is that saying only 0.8% have died in Germany doesnt mean anything when applying it to the uk. Particularly when it's used as an excuse to re open top early.

What the hell made you come out with such a sweeping statement? I, amongst many others, did not choose to be furloughed we were TOLD we were being furloughed! I, again amongst many others, would much prefer to be working so I suggest you engage your brain before making statements liable to cause offence

I stand by my initial statement about him.

Who is him? As theres a few posters in that quote!

The guy on about furloughed workers sitting on their sunshines while is out working taxes to pay for us to

This is his thinking.

I am criticising the people who criticise people who go to work. The government never told us not to go to work, they closed a range of businesses but everyone that cannot work from home should be going to work to try and keep some kind of economy going.

"Isn't the air on a plane recirulated?. If so wouldn't matter how many people are on that plane would still pass viruses around. "

It is impossible to practice social distancing on an airplane because all jet aircraft use their engines to pressurize the cabin and they recirculate the air.

The best we can hope for in the future is that people will continue to practice a higher standard of personal hygiene

Yes and these businesses had to furlough staff .

If they cant work from home and they have been told by their company they can't work for anyone else or face dismissal.

What should they do?

Like someone already said it was some sweeping statement you made.

Maybe if they are so needed in work and cant work from home...could the employer not relocate them during lockdown?

It would be far safer, and tbh I think all flights should have stopped to stem the infection as no one is safe.

Exactly after the lockdown...just my opinion, but I think people taking two flights every week is madness. There has to be another way.

And we keep getting asked what we would do if running the country. Well i would have stopped all flights like this at the beginning of lockdown.

No one should be flying to get to work, move closer to your work or get a new job closer to home.

These flight commuters are a environmental nightmare, there is just no need.

They'll be cheaper after this with London being worst hit area Or you could just work closer to home.

Save money on the commuting costs, save the environment and your travel time, which your work do not pay you for & you can't get time back nor the environment if we don't sort it out.

That issue will outlast this virus & only get worse unless we change.

Now is a good time to reset the system.

I was making more money working locally 13 year ago before the crash than I am making working down London now.

Working local in my line of work is not financially viable for me now .

I dont like 7 hour journeys on a monday and friday but it's what I need to do.
