"For some light relief to contrast the darker points. The official count of tests doesn't only include tests that have been done but also tests sent in the post on an earlier day, that someone said they'd do, as well as a few other scenarios. What silly non-tests, those neither of the current date, not actually having been taken, nor posted back, nor processed in the lab etc, could be creatively added to the 'tests' figures?" A question for you. If you asked for a home test kit and received it would you carry out the test and return it?

Yes What's your lighthearted fun suggestion for what we'd expect would never be included as a test that's been done and processed? I'm not aiming for a debate here, as there are plenty of good discussions going on. My opening was a little cynical but in doing so I was trying to set a scenario for some silly ideas, to lighten the forum.

"Who really cares how many, and when. A shed load of tests are being done, carried out, posted out, received back etc every day. Please can we start looking at positives. " This Who gives a fuck if it's 80, 100 or 120k per day It's a hell of an acheivment under any circumstances And the ones that are complaining about not enough tests are probably the same selfish bastards that would refuse to use an app to track them anyway which is the whole point of ramping up testing.

"I'd tried to frame this as a fun, lighthearted thread. We could keep it free of political scores, blaming etc. Have we lost our ability to have a smile? " No offence but what's light-hearted about it? Either I'm missing something or you've got a strange sense of humour.

It would not matter if 200k tests were done for some on here as they would still complain and run down our country. I wonder if its not so much what's being done but who is doing it that they don't like

We know that testing is important, I think that this country should do more.

Lost in the post? Eaten by dog? Sample given by dog (member of household and concerned owner) Sterilising the swab before and after use? Cleaning ears with swab? A nation of tests, a nation of possibilities. "Oh but you didn't say I *couldn't* so it's not MY fault..."

Wow you don't value efforts I'm sure all those working so hard to do the tests will be so glad to hear that-not If you struggle to do half of what is "normal" for someone else, it means you are incompetent. I don't praise incompetence. Of course the problem here aren't people in labs or thise of take swabs. Wow you must be a motivational speaker in reverse I assume any country's that are doing less than the UK must be incompetent as well Is there any country with comparable resources that is doing less? you wrote: If you struggle to do half of what is "normal" for someone else, it means you are incompetent. This thread is about tests as you well know you even quote it in a previous reply: As of today UK did less test than Germany, Italy, and Spain. you then say: If you struggle to do half of what is "normal" for someone else, it means you are incompetent regarding tests (which the thread is about and you quote) the USA have done more than anyone so using your logic every other country is incompetent. why do you have to be so negative? If you look hard enough at any counrty you can find faults We are in a crisis like the rest of the world. We need positive people and people that recognise all the hard work that is going on and praise them not moan all the time. Italy and Spain are not generally considered "richer" than UK, but they managed to do more tests. Why? Clearly UK is doing something wrong. I'm not "negative" this is just what is actually happening. If this disturbs you I'm sorry." You made the statement that if one country or person does less than another they are incompetent. You do not mention size / income in that statement. I am just pointing out that your logic means all but 1 country must be incompetent. Your negativity is outstanding We are in a terrible crisis. "Who really cares how many, and when. A shed load of tests are being done, carried out, posted out, received back etc every day. Please can we start looking at positives. This Who gives a fuck if it's 80, 100 or 120k per day It's a hell of an acheivment under any circumstances And the ones that are complaining about not enough tests are probably the same selfish bastards that would refuse to use an app to track them anyway which is the whole point of ramping up testing. It would not matter if 200k tests were done for some on here as they would still complain and run down our country. I wonder if its not so much what's being done but who is doing it that they don't like As of today UK did less test than Germany, Italy, and Spain. This is a matter of fact. We know that testing is important, I think that this country should do more. I'm sure everyone involved is working as hard as they can in very difficult circumstances Maybe praising these hard working people instead of criticising them would be better I value results, not efforts. Of course it won't disappear but constantly moaning will not help. People need hope not constantly being told our country is no good. All countries including Germany have problems hence the naked doctors the other day. I also think saying you Don't value efforts is a very horrible thing to say. So many people putting in so much effort and then you say that. As my first post read it would not matter how many tests are done certain people will always moan Maybe you think you can do better in which case let the authorities know your here to save everyone

"I'd tried to frame this as a fun, lighthearted thread. We could keep it free of political scores, blaming etc. Have we lost our ability to have a smile? No offence but what's light-hearted about it? Either I'm missing something or you've got a strange sense of humour." The disease and the devastation caused as well as future risks are all horrific. This post was a counter to that, intending to highlight what could be used to lighten things, as the opening post stated. My personal sense of humour isn't particularly dark. I work in health and care services, like many others and have the same fears, concerns and anxieties as most of us justly have. I've been out working all day, so don't know how this thread has continued.

"For some light relief to contrast the darker points. The official count of tests doesn't only include tests that have been done but also tests sent in the post on an earlier day, that someone said they'd do, as well as a few other scenarios. What silly non-tests, those neither of the current date, not actually having been taken, nor posted back, nor processed in the lab etc, could be creatively added to the 'tests' figures? Lost in the post? Eaten by dog? Sample given by dog (member of household and concerned owner) Sterilising the swab before and after use? Cleaning ears with swab? A nation of tests, a nation of possibilities. "Oh but you didn't say I *couldn't* so it's not MY fault..."" .
