all loved up

You know I'm sat here this morning with tears watching this gentleman get his birthday surprises and his flyby... and its had me in actual floods of tears..

It's a welcome light in a dark time.

Made me smile too though.

Den of Iniquity

Amazing man . If he could inspire the younger generation to appreciate life more, then that could even be of more long term importance than the money he raised .

Absolute legend , Happy Birthday SIR !!

Great to see the Spitfire and Hurricane up this morning. Colonel Tom is just down the road from me so was lovely to hear and see them up knowing where they were going.

A very good man and what an achievement.

I think it also shows a great deal of generosity from the British public too.

Only out of curiosity . Saw her on the news, thought it was his granddaughter as she looks young

I’m delighted that the Army gave him the honorary colonel title - a little thing that will mean an awful lot to him.

It’s kept some happier and positive stories in the news and it’s great that so many people have donated, even in tough times. Helps show that most people are pretty decent really.

Don't wait for the next Honours list. Give him a knighthood now.

The best honour we can give him (and he does deserve one, he's an absolute legend) is to fund the nhs properly so next time some 100yr old man doesn't feel the need to have to do this. Politicians should be ashamed.

Well done Tom.

He is proof that no matter what your age. You can do something nice and right out of the goodness of your heart and it can effect people in ways you would never have thought possible.

I am sure when he had his initial idea to walk 100 laps of his garden to raise some money to go to help the NHS, he didn't expect to get as much recognition for it as what has happened.

And that is why we love him. He did this FOR others, not for his own recognition.

(even though he now is someone that everyone knows the name of!)

Great man. Great attitude!

Didn't know I still had a heart until I first saw him on BBC breakfast. I put it down to no refined sugar and lockdown.

Even my mad as a box of frogs cat is making me go "aaaaah, ain't you cute!"

You don't survive Burma in WW2 without being a tough sort. He certainly is a tough one for sure.

Well deserved medal.
