is it just me or are things going back to normal even though we are still supposed to be in lock down? More businesses are opening. Roads are getting busy

Same here, amount of cars back on the roads is scary. I live near the beach and that's alot busier now too.

I understand we can't stay in lockdown forever but really need to listen to governments guidelines.

Deaths in Northern Ireland are near twice per million what they are in Republic because we took 2 weeks longer to go into lockdown.

More companies have managed to put measures in place to allow them to open.

The government guidelines allow places of work (where the work cannot be done from home) to reopen, as long as they are not on the list of businesses that are not allowed to be open. Hence more traffic on the roads.

Everyone needs to read the government guidelines and realise that we have only had our socialising, schooling and leisure activities "locked down", we are not and never have been on a full "lock down".

Was busier yesterday down here. My job as requested I return after 4 weeks off as workload has risen a little, but we do have measures in place to help protect us.

I have not stopped working, work at home when possible but when I have to do things which I cannot do from home I go to the office or to site, and I observe social distancing, handwashing and additional ppe if required.

Directly in line with government guidelines.

I definitely agree that we aren't strict enough.

I wonder if they could temporarily suspend a driving license until the end of the restrictions if someone is found to be a repeat offender?

Food stocks running low for some so all piling out to shops together. Police not checking peoples journey reasons.

Some companies aren't getting assistance or don't qualify or can't afford the loan offer.

Some people just couldn't give a shit and go for a jolly to the beach, spreaders.

I think some companies have taken the time to look at how they can operate differently, some companies just can't afford to close they will lose their business. A restaurant near me now just delivers takeaways, so you can still have their food but it is left contactless on your doorstep. A friend who has a cafe is now delivering luxury afternoon teas in picnic hampers to people's doorsteps as a cafe remains closed due to the virus. So yes businesses are reopening but in different ways enabling them to social distance. At least some of them anyway.

Roads also busier because people are shopping weekly (no longer with 3 weeks of food stock piled) , keyworkers are working, people are taking food to families. Businesses are adapting within rules. And obs a few breaking rules.

Yes you are allowed to do that. There are people still driving 70/80 miles to go canoeing/fishing, not allowed

As long as the guidelines are adhered to, then there isn’t a problem .

The answer to your question though is yes there has been an increase in activity, and from Monday, because construction firms will reopen ,much more activity .

I’m guessing this is down to the fact businesses have worked out a way to open , whilst following the guidelines.

And hopefully not because they are putting lives over the economy...

Should do what the Irish do and put in a 2km zone from where you like is where you can exercise, the Spanish are checking people receipts for food shopping, the Italians issued letters for key workers to go to work, people are clearly hearing “we’ve passed the curve” and thought fuck it, I’ve had enough of that and decided to go back to normality.

Don't forget the idea isn't to eradicate the virus, it's to slow it and as such it's better to keep people getting infected thus avoiding a second spike.

No, it was a residential and commercial cleaning company. They clean the communal areas, of the apartments blocks in eastbourne.

Wasting your breath, on here they love the clown. You can still effectively protect yourself and your families though, there’s enough info and good practice developing in other countries now that are out of lockdown, you dint need to rely on what’re gov are doing a saying

Maybe the 200, 000 that flew in last month unchecked from countries hit hardest by the virus wasn’t such a great idea ? Other countries closed airports or isolated arrivals , and it worked.

For sure roads are busier, not going to shops etc so I can't comment but just listening to people at work it does seem like something has changed the last week and more people are venturing out for none essential reasons.

I think your right. Last week B&Q opening...this week Wicks and Homebase opening and only just over a week back the coppers were nicking people at The Range for buying tins of paint...I think businesses seem to be the tail that is wagging the dog atm.

Once a week on Saturday i take my dog for a longer walk to give him exercise and some fresh air for myself. I was pretty horrified today as felt i was having to watch like a hawk to avoid others and there was easily 2 or 3 times the people than say 2/3 weeks ago.

What alarmed me was not the couples out for a stroll but the number of people i seen talking in small groups who were clearly not together but definitely breaking social distancing guidelines, no wonder some politicians are reluctant to talk about easing lockdown just now.
