Window cleaners getting fined while junk food shops stay open

Dont gather in crowds while NHS and emergency staff gather in hospital car parks on a Thursday night

Protect our most vulnerable but send carers in and out their homes when they are caring for some people who have Coronavirus

Clap for carers but dont give them PPE

Honour NHS staff but underfund the service and underpay the staff

No non essential work but allow journalists into ICU wards

Interviewer stands 2 meters away from person they're interviewing but shoves big hairy microphone over to them to catch the slabbers instead

Enjoy your picnics, barbeques and hot tubs but look down your nose at people living in flats wanting some time in a local park

Lockdown, isolation and quarantine is not the same for everyone!

For forum wide clarity, I’m not agreeing nor am I disagreeing with your premise. However, what did occur to me when reading was how the concept of individualism plays such a vital, if not, the essential role when addressing a population wide issue such as overcoming the cv-19 pandemic. Clearly how one person or linked group views risk or interprets guidance can and often does vary wildly to that of their neighbours. There is undoubtedly a deep-rooted psychological conundrum to your point ‘lockdown, isolation and quarantine is not the same for everyone’.

I think a lot are now on the limit of accepting the lockdown, too much longer and we will start to see a lot more resistance to it.

I don't bother watching the government briefings any more, i can already see their narrative changing , give it time and the blame will soon start to be handed out to someone and i expect Hancock to get the boot when this settles down a bit

Resist the lockdown and watch the numbers climb again. And then watch the lockdown tighten. Best thing is just bear with it. And we will be out there again and healthy.

Even without the government making changes, businesses will continue to do, such as B&Q and Mcdonalds getting open etc.

If the weather turned consistently worse for long enough, it would change the mood of many people.

Just had roof repaired for a shielding relative, he has been told he can work alone, but not have someone else work with him.

Makes sense as long as no contact with anyone in the house.

I'll let you know if we will get rewarded..

But I imagine it will be back to the usual negativity and abuse as it was before. Once the clapping stops.

The thing is neither b&q nor mcdonalds were told to close , they did so voluntarily thinking it was the responsible thing, but i imagine now that they see its going to be long term they are going for a compromised option instead to keep their business afloat(restricted people in store for b&q and drive through or delivery only for mcdonalds i believe)

I do agree though that places starting to reopen will give the wrong impression that lockdown is over and encourage more people out

If places don't start to re open the economy is fucked. Companies will go under and more out of work. It's a hard balance.

Home, somewhere in Norfolk

Personally I think people should applaud the workers stacking shelves so we can keep ourselves fed and watered, the cleaners working to keep up hygiene in places like hospitals, delivery driver's bringing what we need into the couuntry, retail staff who still have to work. There is lot's of people who are heroes during this time that need to be praised too, without them we'd all be lost including the NHS workers and carer’s who also rely on them all doing their job.

I feel like I can look on it all from a different perspective as I dont fall into any of the groups. Every person in my family is still working. We're not on "holiday" or trapped in the house. We're not NHS but we're an essential service, we see the same neighbours clapping on a Thursday night who are out gallavanting a few times a day. It's interesting to observe if nothing else.

We aren't all in the same boat, we're in the same storm perhaps but some people have much bigger boats than others.

As for NHS staff clapping in car parks, these are people who sanitise after every patient contact, they sanitise on leaving wards and on entering wards. Give them a break and let them enjoy being appreciated for once because once this is over they will go back to being the ones who get blamed, the ones who should be happy for their less than average wage despite putting their lives on the line.

If anyone really wants to show their appreciation for the NHS they should do it by not voting Tory.

Masked and Distant

Why can't a window cleaner work? Certainly can't do that from home.

In fact only the staff at shops, pubs and restaurants that were instructed to close are the only ones stopped from working.

People complaining "more cars in the road" well looks like more businesses have realised they are allowed to be open, if they have social distancing measures in place.

Construction guidelines say, do work 2m apart. If you can't keep 2m apart wear face masks, face away from each other, limit the time in face to face operations.

The police nhs fire etc stood applauding, are not facing each other and are only there for 5 minutes maximum.

Think about it you need prolonged r physically close contact or actual physical contact with and infected person to spread the virus.

Bideford

The reason the people and businesses are getting fed up with the lockdown is because its clearly not working and its not really a lockdown for all.Its getting abused by the people we are supposed to be protecting, i.e. front line worker, NHS and Police seem happy to stand on bridges with hundreds of others clapping themselves.

The boarders are still open and 15000 people are coming through our airports daily without having to quarantine or self isolate.

Don't believe it when the government say

we over the worse and it is working as the figures say otherwise.

When we started lockdown daily cases were 1200 a day, this rose to a peak of 6200 and we currently 4900 cases a day. So if incubation period is 7 to 14 days after 35 plus days shouldn't we see new cases only in the 100's. Something doesn't stack up, and a new strategy is needed.

For the record I am in a front line business, a food producer, and our company brought in measures 2 weeks before the government so this is my 8th week of working from home. Also I have followed the rules to the letter on going out only for essential reasons.

Its getting worrying in the fact that our death rate percentage is in the top three of the world and there is no light at the end of the tunnel accordingly to the figures the government supply to the WHO.

Shops that I use regularly have realised that it is very easy to do social distancing. All of them have needed to make small changes and add a few bits but all of them have managed.

I felt that when all this lockdown first started the non essential shops decided to close, so in order to get clarity on the situation and also see what safety precautions were needing to be in place so as to protect their staff and customers

Lockdown, isolation and quarantine is not the same for everyone!

"

1: Where has a window cleaner been fined? Window cleaners although not essential key workers fall into the category of not being able to work from home so are permitted to carry on working. As for junk food shops, a lot have closed up as you already know!

2: Emergency staff gathering in car parks, these are the same emergency staff who can’t practice safe distancing while at work so what’s the problem with them clapping together outside work?

3: Not giving carers ppe. 85% of care homes are privately owned and charge a lot of money to look after their occupants. Maybe as private companies it is the care home owners responsibility to provide adequate ppe to their employees.

4: Underfund the nhs and underpay the staff. Whilst most of us agree that the nhs is underfunded, a lot of people would also moan when tax rates go up or other public sector areas have to make cutbacks to further fund the nhs. It’s a fine balancing act.

5: Journalists have been counted as key workers. Also to reiterate, people can still work in non essential areas if the employers are still open. The government advice is to work from home if you can.

6: Unless the interviewees lick the big hairy microphone they’re in all probability unlikely to catch the slabbers.

7: I don’t think that most people look down on people living in flats, if people own gardens and hot tubs then obviously they are allowed to utilise them as they are still within the confines of their own household. Everyone is entitled to their daily exercise and is entitled to visit their local park whatever dwelling they inhabit.

8: Lockdown, quarantine and isolation is not the same for everyone but people can still feel lonely, vulnerable and trapped wether they live in a countryside mansion or a block of flats in Peckham. As long as we all try to stay as safe as we can then hopefully things will soon get back to some kind of normality for all of us.

For your info, I haven't read any other posts as I've not been on here lately. Too busy.

The green arrow says otherwise.

"Lately" I.e. I went on last night and commented on one post before I posted myself. I haven't been trolling the forums for the past 6 weeks and getting myself annoyed with people talking about the same things over and over. If I was easily annoyed I'd probably stay out the forums or at least just not comment on a post I didnt like."

I'm as entitled as you to post on these forums and if I choose to comment on a thread you made, that's my choice.

I'm allowed to be annoyed that people keep posting the same negative crap day in day out, we all know it's a shit situation, we don't need to be told everyday.

Your entire OP is about things that are annoying, why can you be annoyed about stuff but I'm called a troll when I get annoyed? Double standards much?
