Now I realise that Covid19 is by far and away the largest show in town and is affecting everything. I expect it to take up the lions share of the news output.

However it’s noticeable that nothing else is being reported and hasn’t been for weeks. Brexit negotiations? North Korea missile testing? Environmental reports? All big stuff, yet we get reports on every single thing regarding Covid 19 however trivial.

I feel we need to get a better balance.

all loved up

I deliberately search for news not covid related each day.

Like for me etna has been giving quite a show recently and I've been reading about that

"Been watching about the warships and the stand off in the south china sea "

I suppose my point is, you’ve had to go searching for it rather than it being on the main bulletins. Similar to MissCali above. I just feel we should have more balance and it feeding into the whole anxiety that some are suffering.

I feel a piece such as the south chine sea may alleviate the mood

Central

Select your media sources carefully, especially if you are finding what you typically use isn't broad enough in its coverage for your tastes.

Op - what news sources are you using?

Others - what sources would you recommend?

I cycle through TV and radio, as well as online. BBC TV, radio 4, Channel 4, The Guardian, Independent mainly.

I hope that new Eyjafjallajökull doesn't happen on top of this virus thing.

I’ve not been watching the news at all for couple of weeks now. I hate the way the media has turned this virus into a circus. Feels like they are enjoying the virus and like previously said nothing else being reported at all

"Apparently the Brexit non negotiations are not going well "

Because apparently Bojo doesn't want to discuss key points legally enshrined in the withdrawal agreement.

Which I suspect makes negotiations tricky......

There's plenty of 'news' out there if you look.

And stay away from social media of course.......

Or he isnt going to roll over and sell us down the river.

Gave up watching the the news nearly gour years ago, there is very little reporting done in news programmes on main stream telly it's mainly opinions. Plenty of places to find news without having to out up with the rubbish, since we have had 24/7 news channels they have to create stories to fill the programme, whether its trump brexit, covid19 or climate change or just goes on and on, look at some of the other channels and you see so much more of what is happening in the world. The main news channels and papers have all turned into comics, yet many swallow their shit, left or right they are all as bad

He signed up to the withdrawal agreement willingly and pushed it through Parliament.

He doesn't now get to decide which bits he can talk about and which he can ignore.

That's not how legally binding agreements work - regardless of his majority that he thinks gives him carte blanche to do as he pleases.

Yep.

Those countries that will recover better post Covid are those with existing arrangements and trade deals in place. Now is not the time to be seeking new deals with countries in economic crisis who will be looking to protect their own manufacturers and economies more than ever.

Carry on swallowing the anti brexit press stuff, its politics, did you really expect him to come out and say, it's going really great we are agreeing on everything, the EU never sort anything until half past 12 on the final day. The world is a different place from last year and lots of things will be done differently including trade.
