So, I hate to be all "doom and gloom", but I was thinking, what if they don't find a vaccine, or a way to treat C19?

What if it becomes a regular feature of our lives, or even mutates?

Nothing is certain, thousands of the best scientific and medical minds have had nearly 4 months to look at this, and so far it's still only a 50/50 chance of survival if you get put on a ventilator, they can't say why it seems to be worse for men, and worse for those of the BAME community.

We still can't cure the common cold, or flu, and the yearly flu vaccine is a "best guess" about what strain the likely threat is.

Do you have infinite patience, or will you eventually say "sod lockdown" if it goes on for months,or in some capacity...years?

It’s already starting to happen. Stores are starting to reopen, companies are starting up again and be honest, more people are about. Just nobody is saying anything on social media as others just condemn.

We sort of ambled into this lockdown and will now just amble out of it. How very British

No they haven't as China has suppressed so much information about this Virus and the last programme I saw the scientists were saying China still hasn't released a sample of the original strain for them to work from a starting point.

So....three weeks on, and now the official line is, a vaccine might never be found.

When do we decide that the damage being done to families, people's mental health, jobs, and the economy means that we need to get back to " business as usual ".... or do we live in this "new normal" manner for the rest of time?

They can say alot of things

But scientists are not politicians shouting rhetoric.

They peer review their findings and studies espically something on this scale and that takes time.

What the future holds because of the virus seems more alarming.

Youve listed some outcomes but it could be much worse

It could be much better.

The idea humanities future lies on how people "feelings" alone seem truly terrifing to me.

But hey we have been through worse we will probably going through worse things in the future.

Best not to think about it to much

in all this doom and gloom and figures people dont look at the bigger picture... how many survive or how small a percentage of the population has actually been affected.

While I'm not saying it's not serious. The scaring people is starting to be worse.

If we get a choice, can i go into lockdown until i retire. I have not had any and could do with paid holidays.

We will have to live with it and get used to people dying, as per numerous other diseases.

Things will change in the short term but too many industries and countries rely on the movement of people for things not to return to similar as before, it may take some time and I doubt things will be exactly the same but it will get close , in my opinion

Dr. Anthony Fauci (the USA's top expert on transmissable diseases) said in an interview with NBC Sports on Saturday that there was little chance that the novel coronavirus, which causes the disease COVID-19, will be eradicated.

Fauci said that with "global travel, every single day, of literally hundreds of thousands of people coming into the United States every day from all over, there's no chance we're going to be virus-free."

He said that the 2003 SARS outbreak, caused by another type of coronavirus, was contained largely because it didn't spread as quickly as the novel coronavirus.

The novel coronavirus "is so transmissible, and it is so widespread throughout the world, that even if our infections get well controlled and go down dramatically during the summer, there is virtually no chance it will be eradicated," Fauci said.

It's a world-wide problem, and needs a world-wide solution, which is unlikely given both the Chinese and Russians dont want to play ball. Whilst he is talking about the US, I think his comments could be applied to any country....it could be here to stay.
