Given that social distancing is going to continue for months, yet suprised at the number of people making plans thinking relaxation of lock down is only a week or two away and meets will resume with flick of a switch.

In reality how do you meet and stay 2m apart? Isn't the reality that we can't meet safely until a vaccine is found & made generally available (c.12-18 months away) or is that the truth that dare not be spoken here?

Discuss.

Sigh.

Has it ever occurred to you that the government will probably say that people can meet in groups upto a certain size, rather that not meet anyone at all.

You know, like they do in other countries...

people will end up meeting before then. I'm already seeing an increase of people not following the distancing.

I live next to a block of flats for people with learning difficulties ( who actually there are relaxed guidlines for social distancing) and elderly.. I've been sat in my garden and I've noticed a big increase In visitors this week.

People will begin to need human contact as much as they do food and they will in many many cases break the lockdown to do so.

You could have simply commented on one of the other threads about this.

The social distancing rules will likely be relaxed so small groups of people will be allowed to socialise. As soon as the rules are relaxed I'll be meeting up with friends.

What about things like dating? At some point you'd have to have sex and not just drinks/dinner 2m apart from each other. You can't expect all single people to stay that way for a year surely?

Maybe the increase in visitors are actually carers considering it's a block for people with disabilities

I think people will start meeting pretty quickly as soon as movement restrictions are lifted , of course there’ll be a few that won’t and will try to wait for a vaccine but there’s no guarantee we’ll even have one .

I don't know anyone who would seriously be prepared to maintain 2m for the rest of the year. Are they going to ban sports? I think not.

nope.. I know most of the carers in the block. I'm shopping for a few of them.. it's only been thelast week too. I wouldnt report them. Its just human nature to need others x and for the first few weeks people abided. Now less and less are. Same with the roads and shops x

You may be allowed as long as you use the government tracking app

That will put the frighteners on a lot of single men in case the partner they dont have finds out why they have to go into isolation

There will be a gradual relaxation on certain things meeting family etc but big gatherings such as football matches and concerts will be off for the foreseeable future as it is not only the number of people but geographical spread of the people attending.

In reality how do you meet and stay 2m apart? Isn't the reality that we can't meet safely until a vaccine is found & made generally available (c.12-18 months away) or is that the truth that dare not be spoken here?

The vaccine is the holy grail in all this, however the scientists are still studying this new virus and trying to figure out why it does what it does, why it seems to affect certain types of people.

So I fully expect the impact of this to be felt for many more months to come.

One-on-one meets will likely happen in private homes, or possibly in Hotels IMHO, but forget any clubs opening until pubs are given the green light. It has been suggested that this will not happen before Christmas. Parties will still be restricted and no close group activity will be advisable. Ok for true singles but not for those that have partners who don’t know of their other half’s extra-curricular activities. Hotels may well be reopening but serious restrictions are likely to apply.

All of this is of course, is just my opinion and I hold no decision making position in any organisation that makes these calls.

Yeah, I think that will happen, that's what they did before the lockdown. It's a better idea, people can watch from home.

Boxers are going to box no matter what the government says. Football is a bit harder to conceal but some people have already not bothered concealing their disobedience. Badminton could probably be done 2m apart, possibly swimming.

If you have had the virus and you are meeting someone who has had the virus, then there is no problem. How about new club rules stating you can only attend if you have had the virus?

We would like this to be the case but we don't yet have a full grasp of the potential immunity that people may get. Reinfection may be possible and people may not become immune.

There are also problems with this and the whole immunity passport thing as you could potentially have people getting themselves infected, to be in this position.

Interesting responses and slightly suprising the no. of people who seem to think they have an entitlement to meet up regardless of guidance once lockdown relaxed.

Let's be realistic clubs will not be opening until Pubs and night clubs are fully up and running. Some pubs may he allowed to open if 2m distancing is achieved may be by using beer gardens. Personal Tracking will add risk to single men playing away. If you catch Covid expect to explain all of your most recent movements and who with another risk.

Too many are in denial to think all will be as before in the weeks ahead. It won't and those that do need to start managing their expectations. I may sound harsh but realism needs to be accepted.

You need to accept that you, and everyone else, don't know what will happen and maybe you need to manage your high and mighty stance on thinking you know better than everyone else. Just a thought.

Let's look at the facts:

It kills

It's spread by human contact.

It survives for 72 hours on most surfaces.

There is no vaccine.

The economy has been deliberately put in coma to save lives by stopping the spread.

The economic cost in £££'s and lives will be far greater than 2008 and akin to the 30's great depression.

As soon as everyone goes back to work, people are going to be back to being packed onto trains and buses anyway. The way I look at it, if life is forcing you into close proximity with strangers, there's little to no safety benefit in avoiding meeting individual strangers for sex.

I won't be kissing until I've been vaccinated. And doggy (or similar) is going to be safer than missionary. Outdoor sex might be safer still, with the virus dissipating in the breeze. Breathing into someone's face will be something best avoided.
