The BBC are reporting non C19 deaths are up considerably

For week ending 10 April

18500 deaths

10000 average number of deaths

6200 total linked to C19

The numbers were also up for the previous week

During a briefing last week the NHS representative said it was due to cancelling planned surgery and people not wanting to go to hospital due to C19

If this trend continues the casualties from non C19 could be a bigger impact on us

At very least the government needs to give us confidence that we can still go to hospital without straining the system

There will undoubtedly be some covid related deaths included in those figures that may have omitted covid from the death certificate.

On the other hand, the number of accidents is well below what it would normally be, so this could be masking the severity of the overall death rate.

A&E departments are reporting admissions down by a third. Some of this will be explained by fewer road accidents and sporting injuries and a reduction in work related stress causing heart attacks and strokes in the first place, but not all. If you are having a stroke or heart attack your chances of survival outside hospital are slim.

"Waits to see if the "it's worth it if lockdown saves one life" crowd arrive... "

It clearly is worth it as the majority of excess deaths are covid related.

That assumes lockdown was the only way to prevent the NHS being overwhelmed. Which it wasn't.

Non-C19 deaths are simply deaths of people who haven't been tested. We don't know how many of these actually died of C19. Anyway, most of these deaths are not related to lockdown anyway.

If people doesn't want/can't go to hospital is because of COVID-19, not because of lockdown.

The only lockdown-specific increases could be those of suicides or domestic homicides, but I didn't see these statistics.
