sparkle Surprised

Firstly I got slated on here, so if it makes no sense. Please be kind.

I'm seeing the advice on here about currently not meeting, which is fantastic of this site.

However, how soon is soon enough to want to meet. Because currently no cure and its still going to be active among us.

I've not had covid19, though there's a chance I'm a carrier. I would be honest and tell someone, would others.

And they are not 100% sure, if you have had it. You might not get it again.

It's something I've been thinking about, among those what can i do sat home alone

I have to agree. It does make me shake my head when I see people wanting to arrange meets for immediately after lockdown, as though the virus is just going to disappear or be less dangerous in the next 3/4/6 weeks.

As someone who is potentially in the high risk group, I can't imagine I will be meeting people again until at least September/October, and even that is circumstance dependant. It might be longer.

But I guess at the end of the day, as adults we all have to assess our own risks and make our own decisions.

Going to be a year before they can say if having it gives one immunity from catching it again.

This is a strawman argument. HIV is easily preventable, COVID-19 is not easily preventable at all.

It would depend on how things are after lockdown ends. We should have millions being tested and large teams tracing contacts of those infected. If the infection penetration levels are low and falling, then sensible precautions are still needed.

Condoms prevent HIV. Condoms do not prevent the virus.

Also medication can be used to treat HIV. No one wants it, but it's not considered the death sentence it used to be back in the 80's and 90's. The virus can kill healthy people very quickly and there currently isn't any consistently effective treatment against it.

Yes and you'll probably recover from coronavirus but you won't recover from HIV. You can have a different view of risk and that's fine, I know the probability of a healthy, under 45 person dying from coronavirus and I'd much rather have that than HIV or plenty of the other nasties going around this site in a lay-by near you. I also know the probability that condoms break and people do all sorts of crazy shit that compromise them. We all take risks and you can have a different risk profile to me, that's fine.

If people choose to be risk adverse and not meet when the "rules" allow then that is a personal decision. However, when (as it is when and not if) personal distancing is relaxed to the point that the tennant of it means meets are allowed then we would have no issues. But everyone should take a view based on their own risk factors.
