Following from BBC website

"The director of a large NHS trust has contacted the BBC asking for the phone numbers of Burberry and Barbour because he does not have enough gowns for his staff working on coronavirus wards."

That Director will be on £150000 / £200000.

It would have been a bit better if they said they got no reply when contacting the companies, or that they had contacted 100 companies and none could help, but they could not be bothered to even try. Why just god for the designer labels, maybe they only buy designer clothes? NHS directors are paid a lot of money, when will numpties like this person justify that they should be paid more than 8 nurses? BBC did not release who it was just a southern Trust. Maybe fake BBC news???

This..

Pretty sure a Ceo can use a search engine Op, this was about someone who has been raising the issues through the normal channels and perhaps frustrated so chose the option they did to highlight..

Not heard that he was asking barbour but burberry do still manufacture in england so perhaps its not as simple as you imagine. Most high street retailers manufacture their clothes in other countries - bangladesh, turkey, bulgaria, china etc and its really only the high end brands who still manufacture over here. I dont know if that was the thinking or if he is a numpty or even if its a wind up but I tend to think that the bbc check their stories before publishing.

Going right off topic, and seeing as this thread has about as much legs as a slow worm, did anyone’s inner snob come out when it was said that Rolls Royce were to make ventilators? Or did you think if I have to have one I want a Mercedes F1 one?

Knowing my luck, I'd get one made by Raleigh...

So an "alledged" director of a hospital trust cant find the contact details of a large company yet can find the bbc details, no wonder people think that the nhs managers, are shit.

I googled Burberry and third on the answers was their contact details, either it's a fake story or someone stirring the shit for political purposes.

Barbour have turned part of their production into making gowns, it's hardly likely to be wax with game and cartridge pockets

Interesting tried looking on BBC for the link I obtained the quote from to prove genuine as someone in the thread mentioned the BBC must have checked plus various other comments

Latest link

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52319576

From that link

"An earlier version of this story reported that a director of a large NHS trust had contacted the BBC with concerns about the provision of gowns for staff. The person concerned is not a director of a trust - the BBC has since been told he is currently part of a network of organisations helping to source PPE for some NHS trusts during the pandemic."

I was quoting fake news provided by the BBC.(can I rename it to be the Bullshit Broadcasting Company) I wonder how much is fact and what is fiction in news from the BBC and other organisations.

I do believe

that this virus is a killer

We still have a lot to learn about the virus

Hindsight is wonderful

News is always tainted by whoever provides it and we choose our own poison whether its murdoch, the barclay brothers or the bbc. In the old days an editor would have refused to run this without proof but nobody really gives a fuck about truth anymore, they just want to get the story out. One other thing though, is this story, in the greater scheme of things, small beer compared to some of the stuff put out by the right wing tabloids and is it possibly a wind up to make the bbc look bad?

So the bbc puts out fake news and it's small beer, even an idiot would realise that it would take two seconds to find the contact details of any company,

So they lied as they have today, see it wasnt that hard for you to admit it.

They would go hard after politicians for lying yet they do it all the time and rarely show contrition, have you ever watched the programme that vine used to front about complaints, not sure if its still going but not once did they say look we got it wrong, always adamant they were right etc etc. Its not like they have to keep an owner happy like newspapers or sky etc

looks like it and not only once, have noticed on occasions they run stories on the radio at 6 am that makes think that doesnt sound right then after 9 its gone, I always assume that either someone has complained about it and its been pulled as inaccurate or an editor has decided to check the story and found its not true, many accuse the mail and express of printng bollocks which is the case but then support our national tv service when they do the same

There is a massive difference between running a story which is inaccurate..which they are then obliged to retract.

And deliberity running a story they know is a complete fabrication.

I'm not their biggest fan but they try to be impartial.

If the mail said sky was blue I'd go out and check.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Undoubtedly the BBC broadcast some inaccurate information at times, but I'd still trust them over the Sun, Heil, Express and Torygragh. Or the Mirror for that matter. They're not perfect, but they're far from being Fox News standard.

I think the main thing we can draw from all this is that PPE is in desperately short supply, and that is the truth whichever way it's presented. Or do you think that's a lie too?

fake news was around long before trump.

piers morgan was the editor of the daily mirror and ran a story about british soldiers abusing iragi prisoners of war.

he even allowed hoax photos to appear on the story and he was rightly sacked for it.

so before you say trump made up fake news. morgan was already doing it in 2004.

But any decent journo checks their stories and the one today was plainly deliberate missreporting what the spokesman said,he stated it was ONE type of gown that was short the story from the beeb was PPE was likely to run out this weekend, no mention of one type

its the same thing in my book, possibly not yours because you always look for an argument no matter what.
