"I don’t buy that it started in China in December either. A British teacher working in China died of unknown causes in September after suffering from flu-like symptoms. The Chinese government wouldn’t release the body to the family (still on bbc news website this). I don’t buy in to the conspiracy theories, but there is more to it than we currently know for me. When the dust settles we’ll hopefully get to the bottom of it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t say it’s been in the UK since December (given the amount of Chinese students, tourists and business workers that hop in and out of the country). Let’s just hope that Chinese people don’t get stigmatised or persecuted over it. " First official case is known to be November 17th. Which smells like at least October to me, September wouldn't surprise me. Anecdotally I know healthy, young(ish) people who had "the worst flu in the world" right at the start of January in Europe and if it wasn't coronavirus then I'll eat my hat.

"I thought I had it late December but there were 'supposedly' no cases in U.K. until 2020 .... Later reading suggests that the virus was about for weeks before the Chinese reported it...... As soon as anti body tests are available im buying ........ " Same, although I'm reading more that there's not enough evidence right now to support the idea that you get immunity after having the virus. THAT is really worrying!

There has only been ONE report (that I've seen) of anyone catching it twice. That seems like quite good evidence from over 2 million infections. Cal

"I know the first known case was identified 17th November however, they didn’t just happen upon it. What made them check for something different? How did they make a link between cases? I suspect it was high numbers of similar deaths that got them to the point of trying to identify what the issue was and that would have happened before 17th November. " Yup, that's the first recorded case in wuhan (Hibei province) but genetic analysis found older cases in Guangzhou province meaning the virus actually travelled to wuhan first which could have taken a while.

I have the flu jab .. and 2 days before Xmas ..I had the worst flu ever .. I don't milk it when i get ill .. and I have real flu once about 15 years ago. But this was something else (Before of any real talk of covid -19 ) I was crawling to the bath room and to move ..and in 3 days ..had about 4 bottles of cough syrup ..and used up a whole now asthma inhaler in about 3 days .. So I'm sure I had it then
