I read an article saying that they had it, cos of the virus there, is it true? They have dug it out in new york cos the cemetarys are getting full there, how will someone know that someone are burried there without some kind of rewognition like name or something similar?

They are also recording and tagging all the coffins so that if any relatives are found later, the bodies can be returned to them.

They keep the bodies for two weeks , if no one claims them they get a paupers funeral like we do here in the uk , shocking that so many people have no one ,

Did the same article explain why?

Yes that it is cos there is no space left in the cemetarys there.

That is good and I saw this one from the guardian https://www.theguardian.com/global/video/2020/apr/10/aerial-video-shows-mass-grave-on-new-york-citys-hart-island-amid-coronavirus-surge-video. I worded it abit wrong. I meant it is getting filled up not that it is that yet there.

This was on BBC World News last week. It was said then, that the mass graves are solely for Coronavirus victims. People dying from other causes are being buried in cemeteries.

Unless of course, the situation has changed in the past days.

It says that they use this site for when bodies are unclaimed, the same as the link I posted. It doesn't say that it is because all other burial sites are full. It is saying they have full morgues so are shortening the time for people to claim bodies

The NYT has a link to an article that says on Hart Island the potters field is the resting place of approx 850,000 people since 1859..

This is a case of bad media reporting as the insinuation (particualry in the headline) was that everyone who died in New York was being buried there.

It's planned in the UK too if there's as many deaths as they're expecting.

"my dad didn't get a funeral. bed to oven, no service"

I'm so sorry you went through that. I work in end of life services and the restrictions placed upon us now for all deaths means that lots of families are choosing a ceremony at a later date.

It is possible to have a service before cremation but most crems are severely restricting numbers.

Sad to hear this, words can't describe how this must feel for you and your family I'm sure. Most of all for him to be isolated from family. May God bless him and you.
