"For the people with diesel cars, make sure you take it for a good 30+ mins drive once a week if you are only using it for short journeys just to go to the local shops because the diesel particulate filter can't regenerate itself unless it reaches around 600c,and it costs a lot of money to replace them if they get completely blocked " Ooo are you a mechanic? I always in need of a mechanic

"Can you leave it running my commute is only 20 mins in my Chelsea tractor. I could leave it running on my drive without keys and see if it kicks in? " Think you'll find it needs to be at around 2000 revs to get it hot enough. The trips I usually do have kept mine in good order so far, and only using the car now 1x per week for essential shopping, but should still be ok, given the distance to the shop.

Looks like the long way home on the odd day. Cheers.

"Pretty sure my Diseasal Mondy doesn't have a DPF " Dunno what year your car is but I used to own a Mondeo st tdci(2005). It didn't have a dpf but the egr needed regular clean outs. Was a simple enough job to remove and get the soot out of it.

If I could ever find a low milage 306 Diesel Turbo I would have it in a heart beat. My one lasted about 8 years and I put over 200,000 miles on it.

Which is handy, since the MOT is due in August. The emission limit is 1.5/m, last year it tested at 0.22/m.

But if you keep the fuel clean and service regularly you shouldn't have issues. I like the idea of the DGB units however the size of the tanks required kind of defeat the purpose of having a duel system.

In spring and autumn I run a 50/50 veg oil diesel mix, in summer I run 100% veg (sunflower) oil. Still a big saving on fuel cost, well it was until the lockdown and the price of fuel dropping...

Still my favourite car I've owned. Broke my heart when it was time to change. The diamond cut wheels were an absolute bitch though

It's a fairly recent issue - never used to have any such problems with our vans at work, but in recent years this, and fucking Adblue, have been real pains in the arse.
