Apparently he has tested positive for Covid19 but is showing no symptoms.

While not having symptoms is a good thing for him and his family...it prompts the question as to why he was tested?

"Apparently he has tested positive for Covid19 but is showing no symptoms.

Because he's been admitted to hospital for IV antibiotics for a different type of infection. Everyone admitted to hospital is tested at the moment because they need to know if to isolate people and whether to be fully gowned up to treat them.

my grandad use to tell me about him when he played for celtic and said he would be one of the all time great players.

im sure someone will correct me but I think he attended more funerals for hillsbrough victims than anyone.

I believe he tried to go to all of them, I read about it in John Aldridge's autobiography.

Yes, so that staff know if to isolate the patient and what PPE to wear, if any. The "interesting" thing here is a guy who is almost 70 and so fairly high risk can be infected and test positive, but have no symptoms. The media info said he'd been isolating at home as an older person for more than 2 weeks too, so curious as to how he picked it up (if the rest of the household are isolating too).

It makes me think that there is still not enough known about the virus, it is possible he had it well before the two weeks he was isolated..
