Can you name someone who has died from Covid-19

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

In another thread someone said that they bet not many could name someone who had died.

Can you? (not literally name them).

It hit home even harder when it is someone you know so to keep this within a parameter it has to be family, friend, work colleague or neighbour, no friend of a friend, your favourite celeb, etc.

My Uncle died from Covid-19.

Have not seen him for a few years and he was in a care home suffering from Dementia so highly at risk.

Suddenly it does seem closer.

Not personally, not yet.

Three of my work colleagues have relatives in ICU though and it's not looking good for any of them.

Yeah I can, not a relative but a friend of the family passed away a few days ago. My sister and husband both tested positive, she is over the worst of it, he's still in the thick of it. So yeah, its all too real.

No.

My brother had it (tested) and my sister and her family probably had it (not tested, but had the pattern of symptoms) but everyone was fine.

You're right... although I am taking it seriously, I don't think it will seem real unless/until someone I personally know died.

My mother has (almost certainly) come down with it this week, 7 days after her and my Dad went to help their elderly next door neighbour who collapsed after being ill for several days. He was taken to hospital and tested positive for Covid 19 and my mother developed symptoms 7 days later.

What does it matter whether you can name anyone or not?

The fact remains that there are literally thousands of people dying from this terrible disease and many muppets are not taking it seriously.

Three people in our immediate locality have perished from it, one in hospital and the other two didn't even manage to get that far and died at home!

That is awful, and I suspect there will be thousands more situations as awful before this is done.

I don't know anybody close yet has died and hoping it doesn't happen but only time will tell.

Gutted massively as we will get his ashes in a cardboard box when we’re able to go out.

My grampy last week

It really hit home how a virus has the potential to contribute to someone's death, it's made me a lot mode cautious about me not catching it in the first place. Everyone should be cautious in the first place, it shouldn't have to take a death of a loved one or someone you know for that to happen

My mum died tuesday, hospital staff let mydad stay with her on the ward when they knew she wouldn't make it and he was really grateful for that. Now my dad has to self isolate for 2 weeks and cope with everything.

I wasn't close to my parents but do feel sympathy for him and gutted about my mum.

But yes people are catching it and dying.

100,000 per day? Over what region? I assume not the UK because the total number of deaths per day (from all causes for all ages) for England and Wales averages about 1,500 per day for this time of year. That's from the office of national statistics. I haven't looked up the equivalent for Scotland and Northern Ireland but they'd have depopulated by now if they made up the remaining 98,500 per day.

Dont personally know anyone died or confirmed diagnosed. Given the symptoms I had in February my GP surgery "strongly suspect" I had it....including pneumonia and not just the incessant cough and temp above 39 for a number of days.

Put a note on my file to have antibodies test when available. Until then I won't know.

Lots of lost lives and loved ones and so sorry for your loss. Ignore the idiots on here, who have no clue...

Family knows of 2 elderly friends who are gone. I know a funeral director through fab who’s currently conducting a number of burials which are covid-19 related on a daily basis. I also volunteer in one of the Manc hospitals and I’ve seen enough to know the daily tolls in this city, we are being told we are a week away from the peak in the Northwest so I imagine that will increase in coming days.

"Guess your not grieving much. "

I suggest you go and experience some people grieving first hand, you may then realise everyone copes in different ways. You may also realise what a piece of work you’ve painted yourself as.

I would say this.... you are either choosing to be highly offensive to someone who has just experienced a death in their family or you are choosing to victimise someone who’s making a statement on here for what you believe is attention (if that was the case they’d obviously have some fairly major issues).

So, perhaps reverse your ‘no shit’ judgement approach on yourself... what kind of person attacks someone who is grieving or indeed someone with mental issues? Your levels of compassion either way set a new standard of low.

know someone whos death has been classed as being because of covid.myself i not to sure that is the cause of death myself.yea he tested positive wich is the only thing to class it as a covid death. on the other hand he had cancer throughout his body and was told he had a few months left so was it covid or the cancer he already had that caused his death.

A previous work colleague, she was a front line care worker, such a shame.

Just read this morning that a care home near us have lost 11 residents in the past 14 days, with another 13 confirmed to have covid-19.

One of my clients passed away last week. Damn scary. She was fine one day, ill the next. Non verbal dementia client. Wasn't considered vulnerable so not shielding so no need to wear masks when with her. Now I'm waiting to see if I get it or if its travelled on me to other clients

To think there are still so called educated people out there who still believe its all fake and its been caused by 5G.
