Churchill was an alcoholic racist by some accounts (including those of his friends), and Thatcher so appalling a leader her own side sacked her before she dragged them down with her. Good company for Boris eh? History is rarely kind, and in Boris's case there's a lot for the historians to have fun with.

Wow... Patronising much? We have one system in play and the party that gains the most seats wins. It's not that complicated.

Personally, the thought of Corbyn leading this country horrified me. That said, had he won I wouldn't spend the next four years whinging about every decision made and trying to be as divisive as I possibly can.

If you don’t like him it’s fine you don’t have to vote for him. But you should respect that people do like him. They aren’t wrong for liking him. Getting offended doesn’t actually change anything. He’s in charge and that’s that. The country spoke. Suck it up princess

Did he make the ‘correct’ decision when he shook hands with Coronavirus patients??

Doubtless Boris is not as perfect as you- that is a given.

I am far from perfect, you are the one who stated he always makes the correct decision? I make wrong decisions all the time

Can't argue with you on that one !! Lol

Exactly, but I am not daft enough to shake hands with a person who has the Coronavirus, that takes a special kind of stupid

Glad you admitted that you make wrong decisions a lot. Just out of interest - how do you know for a fact that you haven't shaken hands with a Covid-19 victim ? Never shook anyone's hand in the last six months ?

I don’t, but this is the difference, Boris knew he was shaking hands with Coronavirus patients, he even admitted the fact afterwards? Now that is really really stupid, thick as mince behaviour .

Yes. People who can see through the Brexit propaganda are largely the same people who can see through the Tory propaganda.

Why would you think the pandemic would undo the years and years of divide engineered by the Tories and the right wing media?

As someone who was sent to that war on a lie. I was given a briefing showing me chemical weapons plants in Iraq. This was a fabrication by a labour government and they past the same information to the rest of parliament. So yes parliament voted for the war. But not on the facts.

Of course, he won’t be PM for long though. This pandemic and the shit storm it will create really wasn’t in his script, he wasn’t expecting all this hard work and grief. You will be lucky if he does his first term without resigning. There is more money for him to make elsewhere for far less hassle

The NHS has been failed for decades by numerous Governments - it is not that fault of Boris.

Hopefully though this government and others have learnt a harsh lesson.

Every European countries health service has been crippled by the outbreak of COVID-19. No one saw it coming.

Give the Governments a break, no one was prepared for this and quite frankly how could you?

The Government response with Nightingale Hospitals has been outstanding.

I would vote for this random woman from fab over Boris any day.

Can't be any worse.

Fair. But they could have agreed to pay them a fair wage?

Or at least not cheered when they defeated a bill to give them a fair wage increase.

"As I said on another thread my only hope is that he realises that medics NEED PPE now. Another (consultant) medic died today

You don't think he knows that?????

The NHS has been failed for decades by numerous Governments - it is not that fault of Boris.

Hopefully though this government and others have learnt a harsh lesson.

I wish Boris a speedy and full recover so that once COVID-19 is beaten, he can deliver Brexit! "

No I do not think he does. And this government (Tory) has been in power for over a decade. The pandemic plans have been revisited as they should yearly. But No action. At the same time the NHS has been systematically stripped and downgraded. Netrimental action

Don't hospitals order and supply PPE for their staff, or does the PM buy it and take it round in his car. Maybe boris forgot to order any.

Frankly I find all these negative posts very depressing. The Government and many others are doing absolutely everything they can to fix this and people here sit behind their keyboards criticising - priceless.

Maybe things could have been done differently, but bear in mind that every single Western country is in a similar position!

Just think about whether Jeremy Corbyn got in to power, that he caught COVID-19 - the country would now be run by Diane Abbot, so be careful what you wish for

What planet are you on? Half the government is off instructing their investment companies to buy all the cheap assets to make mega cash.

The other half are laughing their arses off at the NHS, and patting themselves on the back for defeating the bill to give them a fair pay rise.

"And they sent us on a peace time budget. Woefully unequipped. Just like the NHS. Unfortunately corona isn’t a man made concept. The war was.

Why was Tony Blair never prosecuted? Why did a conservative government and Attorney General repeatedly block attempts to prosecute Blair and his senior ministers ? "

Like for the exactly the same reasons that when Keir Stammer was DPP he made sure that Jimmy Saville was safe from the allegations of child abuse I would think.

Not in the slightest bit similar, but if we are going to talk about Jimmy Saville who was it who pushed for him to get knighted? What party was he an avid supporter off? Have you watched that video of Boris yet? You know the one where he talks about shaking Coronavirus patients hands?

Never thought i would say this but cannot wait till he gets back, as the thought of Dominic Raab supported by likes of Priti Patel & Michael Gove holding the reigns of power while being steered by Dominic Cummings is a terrifying vision.

I am not a huge fan of the PM but glad he is on the mend and i wish him a very speedy and full recovery.

Everyone is saying how well the government has dealt with this ..as in the lockdown and the measures for people and business effected by this.

Then they say image how Corbyn and Abbott would have dealt with it.

Well I think they would have done the same but possibly sooner... and not left anyone outside the net.

But then all of those who have said the present government had done a good job.. .would be just saying they will bankrupt the country...fecking cant win with some eh

Does he have more or less blood on his hands than other world leaders?

Surely the person who fancied some bat soup is the guilty party.

I assume had another leader been in charge you would be just as keen to lay blame at their door.

Personally I find it a bit crass to be political on this when no one not even the scientists have established a best solution.

If you want to look at things relative to other world leaders, then yes the UK was slow to act in terms of implementing social distancing, sourcing PPE and diagnostic tests. Rather than take part in a EU bulk buy of respirators, he chose to give a contract to vacuum cleaner manufacturer, with no experience of respirator manufacture. The delay in acting has cost people their lives

Its just a month since Boris boasted that he was still shaking hands, including those suffering with CV19.

Patient zero would have had no awareness or foresight of his actions. The UK govt could see what happening in other countries and the steps they were taking.

Hypothetically speaking if it was another person that was in charge, say Mrs May or Mr Corbin and I thought there response was lacking, then I would say so.
