"I’m in no doubt history will repeat itself of 100 years ago In what way do you think it well x" For me the longer this goes on the world governments cannot keep bailing companies and individuals out of financial difficulty. That in turn will force a lot of businesses to go under and with it jobs. Unemployment will soar and a lot of people will struggle to feed their families and keep a roof over their heads. Industries that rely on travel and tourism, as well as some countries, will likely fold as I cannot see travel restrictions lifted for a very long time outside of your own country. It’s a very long road ahead and no one really knows what it will bring, all we can do is surmise and hope it’s not as bad as you may fear

"I think some industries will be hot really hard, construction in particular. Anything where you can work from home, or remotely should fare better. But there is still a demand for things to be built and done just like that was before or is it because people will be just out of work in general" Because people will be put of work. It's not easy to just mobilise and start building "stuff" again. One of my last projects took 14 months to secure, from getting the enquiry to getting an order. A further 3 years work to build. You can't just wave a wand and start that up again....

"I’m in no doubt history will repeat itself of 100 years ago Blimey I hope not everything. It’s not impossible though is it?" I’m hoping not as well. There is one thing I purposely left out as it doesn’t bear thinking about, I hope it doesn’t spike again but it’s not impossible

"I have a prediction. Based on if there is no end to this soon, so let's say the lock down keeps getting extended, past may, past june and maybe up to july/september not just in UK but all over the world. If that was to happen well my prediction is this time next year everyone will be thinking we should never have shut down the world for this thing. As i think the number of deaths and overall misery will far outway the amount of deaths if we had just let it run and tried to carry on as normal. Fathom, starvation, violence, homless, jobless, suicides will all increase. We are a fairly wealthy country (6th i believe) but countrys that are not as wealthy, the african or middle east nation's for example dont have goverments propping up buisness's or peoples wages. There will literally be millions in those countrys that have only been surviving due world economy ticking over. Having that stopped for a certain amount of time and getting no income to feed their familys well its not rocket science to figure out that its going to decimate huge numbers of the population in certain parts of the world. The rest of us (the wealthy countrys) will be in debt paying all this back for generations. If we thought austerity was bad for past decade we aint seen anything yet. Have a friend whos a single parent to a lil girl. Self employed was living from monthly income to monthly income he is so stressed out because he has gone into his overdraft and wont be gettimg any goverment help for another month. Im sure there is hundreds if not thousands in same situation. I have no idea how this is all going to end but i can't see it being a happy ending for anyone if the worlds economy stays on lock down for much longer. I personally think the outcome from bringing the world to a halt will outway the misery and death count than the virus itself. *disclaimer This is just my opinion of what may happen if lock down reaches end of july (globally). Im happy to be wrong ofcourse so in 12 months from now id love to see loads of messages saying how wrong i was as nothing would please me more." I think it would have been too much of a gamble to let things just run its course...who knows how many would have died if the world would not have gone into lockdown? There probally will be an economic downturn after this but no one hows how bad it will be. We do know if we had done nothing many, many people will have died.

Germany’s a very powerful European country, hence why the wars happened. I’m not sure how that can really be disputed. For a recent example, Greek austerity. "????" only with people who are likely to get depressed, I've noticed quite a few people i know are not chatting because this site now has lost its emphasis, the emphasis being 'meeting point' so other things become more important and always should be anyway. For me its a place to chat and keep my spirits up thankfully the weather is also helping luckily i think this area is mostly tourists and because all the hotels have closed its only residents of this area that are out and about but I'm seeing too many kids out i saw a little gang of seven boys out on their bikes 11 year olds and many old people 70/80s don't think this area is taking it too seriously at minute but really not that many people out mostly dog walkers, I'm missing interaction the most but I'm a happy soul anyways. Look out for those you know get down go say hi and offer to get some shopping or call them just to lift their spirits.

"A lot of businesses are going under and there’s been a big shift towards home working. I think this will cause some bigger societal changes going forwards because they cannot lift the lockdown until there is a viable vaccine and widely available test for antibodies. I’m a pessimist but I’d be surprised if there wasn’t some form of restriction still in place in a year to 18 months, and you can forget going abroad. " I think this is a very pessimistic view and highly unlikely. I don’t believe for one minute that the lockdown can’t be lifted without a vaccine. "????" "????" I don't know whether it will trigger a Great Recession but yes we're almost definitely going into recession. The emergency measures put in place to slow the outbreak have severely impeded households’ spending and you've got manufactures closing so it's hit the supply and the demand. I can't see people going crazy and spending lots of money as and when restrictions are lifted because we'll all be wary of another outbreak after initially drinking pubs dry ! Tough times but it might make us question what things are valuable in life and it could be as simple as we're less rich and have less trappings of Wealth like newest phone models, biggest televisions etc but we're happier with more family time. I'll remain glass half full and think that the world won't end although it might not return as we know it for some time.
