"Haven't checked to see if it's true (re calls to resign) but it's no worse than prince Charles going to one of his "second" homes , did the Scottish police visit him and give a warning? Also it's no better than when others have gone to their holiday homes. " He had already been there for three weeks before lockdown came in....and he stayed there like a good boy... As the Queen went to Windsor a week before lockdown.

A means tested fine (because she should know better and will be seen as a role model) would be more than sufficient. No one else is getting the sack when they flout the rules, they get warnings/fined.

"Sack her? Are there really that many CMO's sat around ready to take her place? This sounds like something to be taken into consideration after this is all over, not in the middle of it." There are plenty of folks on here eminently qualified to take on the role of CMO for Scotland

"A village visit with an overnight stay at her second home with family. Sorry, but that's a terrible example to set when in such a position. How can she be considered credible from now on if she speaks out about health on coronavirus. Unbelievable!" Some of us can reason between stupid actions and her academic knowledge - easy really

" He had already been there for three weeks before lockdown came in....and he stayed there like a good boy... As the Queen went to Windsor a week before lockdown." No, he hadn’t. He travelled on the Sunday. Got tested on the Monday. He should have been just as lambasted as Kirstie Allsop and the other idiots that travelled with symptoms

"Lock down measures starting to fray. Scotland chief medical officer Catherine Calderwood ignores her own advice and shoots off to her second home for the weekend. Well done Catherine, you were doing a good job. Now you have underminded yourself, your government and made a mockery of protecting the NHS. Hypocrite. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/apr/05/scotland-chief-medical-officer-seen-flouting-lockdown-advice-catherine-calderwood Pictures are to be found in the red tops. Anyone thinking of using this event to excuse their own similar action might like to reconsider and think about the harm they can unknowingly do to our vulnerable people. Take care all, and ignore the 'leaders'! In general we the people are a doing great job. I posted a few hours ago in another thread. Think the link is woryb posting in this thread. Public Health at its worst. A disgrace to her profession - while the rest of the country are knuckling down to invoking wartime spirit lady snoot fucks off to luxury. " I thought I had seen it before this was posted... should have started a thread eh

"Cath Calderwood has completely undermined herself. She should have realised that if she was seen it would be a bit story. I’m surprised she’s been that naive He had already been there for three weeks before lockdown came in....and he stayed there like a good boy... As the Queen went to Windsor a week before lockdown. No, he hadn’t. He travelled on the Sunday. Got tested on the Monday. She's the one giving Scottish people health advice on this virus, believe me lots of academics do stupid things. However, when your decisions directly contrivine what you say in a public when you represent the public surely that conflict of interest brings your credibility into scrutiny, she'll lose her job over this.

"Discuss..... what was the woman thinking about ....." Surely the issue is one of trust ..... put simply how does everyone feel receiving ‘expert’ advice to not undertake unnecessary travel but then discover the expert issuing the advice does entirely the opposite?

"Discuss..... what was the woman thinking about ....." She's human just like the rest of us scared and prone to make mistakes albeit a fucking stupid one. Lesson learned and bollocking probably justifiably given, apology done. Let's leave it there sacking her is going to help the situation not one iota.

Sacking her would be the biggest message they can give to the public that that sort of behaviour won't be tolerated. A rap of the knuckles just shows everyone that there isn't really much need to follow the rules and has probably put us all back weeks.

With all the effort being put into to limiting CV-19 spread through the lockdown procedures, to have a leading medical scientist and one who is specifically advising the Scottish Gov't undermine the guidance, demonstrates the worst type of leadership imaginable.

"Resigned." How long until they wheel out they phrase 'lessons have been learned'. It was on already show in this todays press conference. Strange though processes abound in the leadership. Clue: Integrity cannot be faked.

"Resigned. Quite right too" Yes. This is a time where the people deserve absolute integrity from the ones they have chosen to lead the country. The ones at the top have been awarded a great privilege by the people, and with that privilege comes an enormous responsibility. This is a time of life and death, an invisible threat that is none the less probably more serious than anything that any of us have experienced during our lifetimes. Those in high office have been honoured their positions; they must now show that they are worthy of that honour. The people who actually keep the country running are laying their lives on the line - the ones on high asking for sacrifices to be made must lead by example. Those who prove unworthy of their positions should be MADE an example.

"Resigned. Quite right too" Dragged out the inevitable, untenable and she lost all credibility. Had to go.
