who will make lots of cash from covid 19

Who will be the biggest winners from covid-19 in the short term supermarkets for sure, Company's who make hand sanitizer, and I guess any medical PPE company's.

The NHS will be stronger for it in the end, because all this extra medical equipment will still be there after this is all over. And I think a massive stock pile of stuff will be made for any future event like this happening ever again.

I'm not so sure about supermarkets. People aren't eating more and i guess they will be buying less as money becomes tighter due to job loss and then bang we will be in the midst of a global financial crisis and collapse of the workforce as we know it.

I think online business is the way to go and Joe Wix.... that fucker will make money from this ...... who else though ..... hmmmmmmm corner shops are seeing an upturn .....

BOOM........ counsellors, life coaches and psychiatrists....... remember I said it here.

And the biggest maker of all will be pharmaceuticals and anyone who is watching out for the property slump so they can buy low sell high.

Hmmmmm and my friend who has just bought slumped shares...... even a small increase in the future means he is quids in ......fucking vulture. Wish i'd have thought of it.

We're doing okay out of it on a personal level. Both of us are working fulltime still, our expenditure is significantly reduced and most things we normal spend cash on are cancelled. I mean we're not going to be rich at the end of this but we'll have enough for a decent holiday.

And before anyone makes a snide comment we are both working long hours for no extra reward so yes I am going to focus on the one entirely selfish perk from all this.

There is nothing wrong with making the best of a shit situation.

I’m totally fine and actually encourage anyone to come out of this better than they went in. Obviously without using means of exploitation.

There and to the left a bit

Whilst I would hope that the NHS will be stronger once we come out the other side now that it's worth has been truly appreciated by the whole country, my fear is that by the time it is over it will be so on it's knees that the current government will see that as a reason to push ahead with its plans to actually further decimate and privatise it - whilst the government may currently, and rightly, be throwing money at it - I don't trust them enough to want to claw that back (which it will have to do somehow) from the very system it is currently supporting.

Those that will benefit however will be the hedge fund managers and other power brokers who you can have no doubt will already have worked out how to profit from an awful situation.

Anyone in property won't be a winner. The mortgage companies requiring a 40% deposit tells you everything you need to know about where the prices are heading.

Once we start emerging from this, people won't give a stuff about the environment. The environment was only a worry whilst we didn't have something real to worry about.

Any business that is in the leisure / entertainment / travel industry that survives this are likely to see a big upsurge as once restrictions are lifted people are going to want to celebrate, party and get out and about again.

Going back to how it was in the 60s and 70s all changed in the late 80s, easy money means more people in hock to the banks. Banking system has to much power and control not any more they are going to have to bail us out for a change.

Are the two mutually exclusive?

I have a Dad and a Stepmum shut off from the world and I’m doing my very best to look after them.

I’m also trying to look out for my retirement which was on course until this came along so I have to change tact is that so bad?

People have different ways of thinking.

Personally I think making a killing out of this situation is ethically questionable but thats capitalism for you.

Ethics get you nowhere.

As a dyed in the wool socialist I have absolutely no problem with what you are doing which as you say is taking precautionary measures to protect yourself and your future, and not at the expense of others.

What I *do* have a problem with though are the Rhees-Moggs of this world that are seeking to take advantage of others misfortune all in the name of increasing an already bulging pocket and doing so from a position of power - some may say there is no difference between what you are doing and what he is doing but it's fairly obvious to me that there is a world of difference.

Sell again later on when the situation improves?

I'm no expert but there is always money to be made in a crises.

Yep, Hedge Fund Managers are the winners. The losers are people who are relying or will rely on their pension pot (if they survive Covid-19) and the taxpayer who has to pick up the tab for all of this.
