Definition of essential care

Bit of a random one this but according to a large trawl through the web informal carers are still allowed to visit the people they care for "for essential care needs". What counts as essential?

The person in question doesn't have any formal care package in place or a needs assessment.

Is there a definition anywhere of what is reasonable to need doing and what things can just be ignored until lockdown is over.

Thanks

It will depend on the person. They may need shopping or medicine delivered. They may need daily or weekly hygiene needs mets. Certain chores may have to be done (laundry, ironing, sides wiped down if asthmatic and cannot do it themselves).

Thanks. So those things you have mentioned would be considered essential and justify someone visiting?

If the person cannot do it themselves, yes.
