Has anyone on Fab contracted the Corona virus?

Or know of anyone on Fab who has?

And how did they get it - from a meet on here?

If all you've done over the past few weeks or so is go to work or shopping but the only people you've touched are on an intimate meet then clearly the likelihood (though not 100%) is you got it from swapping bodily fluids.

The symptoms vary and are similar to flu so unless you've been specifically tested for it nobody can really say they've had it or not

I haven't been tested, but am really poorly and have all the symptoms. Someone I sat next to at work did test positive for it though, and there's a couple of us from the office with symptoms now, so it looks likely. Thankfully I'm manageably ill, so isolating at home and resting.

It's awful, but so far no worse than when I had the flu a few years ago. Hopefully I will be one of the ones who only have it mildly.

In Ireland confirmed cases are classified under 3 different groupings

1st Travel abroad 16%

2nd Contact with a confirmed case 23%

3rd Community transmission 63%

Well that's a very interesting point.

You are saying you have it mild.and comparing it to the flu.

So all these people saying it's just flu.

So yes if you have it mild it's no worse than the flu which let's be honest is pretty fucking horrible.

So a mild case of coronavirus leaves a fit and healthy person on Their arse.

You can see how a bad case is so deadly

There will be very few users on here who have had an official covid 19 test.

If anyone actually has had a test then I would be surprised if they wanted to start chatting about.

For the majority of us untested users then no matter what Symptoms you have had or got , your diagnosis can only be guess work and with out a test you simply won’t no.

Stay safe stay home .

I don't know anyone here who has had it and I don't have any symptoms to date that suggest I have had it.

They're currently looking for people with it, to trial treatments for effectiveness and I would urge people to consider it, subject to the terms of each trial.

I don't know why I'm indulging this thread as it appears the OP doesn't have a clue what he's talking about but in reply to this post, correct. I was ill a few weeks ago, was before the first reported cases in Britain though so wasn't tested. Had the symptoms of covid. Also had some symptoms that weren't associated with covid then but now are. I'm hoping it was covid so that I'm now immune especially as I'm frontline NHS working in covid HDU but the simple long and short of it is until they do release a test to see if someone has had it I have absolutely no way of knowing.

I had the symptoms back in February... dry cough, feverish, trouble breathing, pressure on my chest (I'm asthmatic) and it lasted a good few weeks. At the time I thought I had flu, despite having had the flu jab.

But with no test, there's no way of knowing for sure.

Exactly the same scenario for our little nuclear family except none of us are asthmatic. A rough few weeks but like you said, no test to say either way so we're going forward as though we haven't and will be behaving accordingly.

Not a clue where we caught it, op, that's if we've had it.

I just managed to get back from France right before the world started shutting down.

Have I had Covid-19? I don't know but, if for me that's all the symptoms I get, then I sort of hope so.

I'm not sure exchanging bodily fluids is the main reason for the virus spreading. If it is, why are we all on lock down and have to be at least 2 metres apart?

I think I've had / I have it, still recovering but much better then I was. I unfortunately have passed it on to two people, and I'm taking social distancing seriously but who knows how many others caught it from me before I got Covid symptoms? It seems like some don't show any symptoms all the way to some having breathing difficulties.

We believe we both have it. Symptoms:

Me (N) - lost of taste/smell, very transient fever, a day of a cough, exhaustion, sore neck/shoulders, swollen neck glands, nasal irritation, a bit of diarrhoea, headache.

S - significant cough, fever with chills etc, swollen glands, exhaustion, aching hips/knees/small joints, shortness of breath, headache.

He didn't lose smell/taste or get diarrhoea. I didn't get much of a cough or fever. Its been interesting to see how we've been affected differently.

Our youngest (3) had a bit of a cough, slight temp and generally clingy for a few days, so we think she had it too.

I've been just mildly ill, our daughter was barely any different to normal, S is much more unwell than I was, but still OK to be at home in bed.

Obviously we haven't been tested, but the symptoms check out. I think I caught it from a colleague just before the world ended - he went home with a cough and fever, which his wife has also started with. Obviously I could have got it in Sainsbury's or something too.

Most interesting on the differential symptoms has been that I'm generally pre disposed to getting bowel related illness more than S, and I got diarrhoea (SARS-CoV-2 has receptors in the small bowel too). S is very much more affected by colds, chest infections than I am, and it's gone straight on his chest. We blame passive smoking as a child for that pre disposition - neither of us has ever smoked and have no high risk health conditions pre existing.

Ok so to all those who want to attack me rather than just get on with the post (I've noticed that on Fab if someone posts something non-frivolous then the OP invariably gets lynched for a minor point):

1. Forget the "how you got it" part if you don't agree with it. Just answer the other bit as most seem to have done.

2. Do I know what I'm talking about? Well let's see -

A) I got lynched on Fab when I said it was irresponsile for people to be meeting BEFORE there was even a mention of a lockdown. Turns out I was right.

B) I have 3 doctors in the family and half a dozen close friends who are consultant level NHS workers with whom I am in regular contact.

C) My cousin contracted Covid-19 and his origins were traced by doctors to his visits to the hospital to which he had been making trips with his wife and mother for their non-covid treatments. So it is sometimes possible to trace it.

I think my son and I may have had it the week after half term. Extremely mild though.

He's never ill, has had 100% attendance at school in the two and a half years he's lived with me, but was off school for a week with constant headaches and I think he had a slight sore throat for about a day. No headaches since.

I was similar, but not as many headaches (and I've suffered migraines for years).

My daughter had been off the week before with a bad cold and at first I thought we'd picked that up from her (I developed it a few weeks later).

No idea if what we had had WAS the virus and unless the government insist on testing everybody for antibodies, we'll probably never know

I think my mum had it in January. She was very poorly with a cough for months (the Dr said it wasn’t a chest infection as couldn’t hear nothing on chest so put it down as an asthmatic cough) and antibiotics didn’t touch it. She had blood tests back in January (not for Covid 19) and they were clear. She also had Sore throat. And she looked like death. She’s been hospitalised with Pneumonia in the past so i was worried it was happening again. After three months the cough went but she has been left with a chest that is quite susceptible to getting chesty again if she picks up a sniffle.

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

I have posted a few times about this..

There is a group of scientists from Kings college London that created an app, Covid-19 sympton tracker.

It has been running in the UK for a couple of weeks now and is starting to show some interesting trends, that without this app, probably wouldn't have been picked up.

Over 2 million people in the uk have been updating daily on the app whether they are well or showing symptoms.

The website for the team running it can be found if you search covid.joinzoe

It's well worth checking out, some interesting details and of course, if you aren't already using the app, I thoroughly recommend you do..

If you've been shopping chances are you may have got it by touching something that was contaminated with infected respiratory droplets then you touched your mouth. If you are having aex with someone and they were infected then they probably passed on respiratory droplets. You don't however get it from other bodily fluids normally associated with stis- semem, female ejeculate, urine or blood.

How do you know that the wife wasn't seeing the mail man in between and won't say anything?

Or maybe your cousin with the mail man and won't say anything?

Maybe they are lying to each other that they don't smoke, went to the store secretly to buy a pack and got it there?
