We have had people on here blaming the government for not stockpiling in December, testing all arrivals or closing all borders in January, etc regarding this virus. I was wondering whether these people were posting topics in December/January as the posters would have had the same info about the virus in China at that stage or whether their posts in March are actually based on hindsight.

I decided to go look at the Lounge Forum topics for December and January and was surprised to not find any topics on the virus (I may have missed some, it was a quick browse through the first 60 pages for each month). I went to February and could only find 4 topics that were related to the virus in the last 10 pages from that month. Reading the posts in those topics, most were very blasé over the issue. Indeed one poster who has been very critical of the government response actually posted a message stating that they had more chance of being attacked by a hawk in London!

Overall, up until the start of March it does seem that most on Fab were not that worried bout the situation at all and many are now using hindsight.

Btw I am very frustrated at the slow testing of frontline staff who are helping others with this virus.

We all have eyes on the back of our head and seem to use them more than the ones that look forward.

It's human nature. When this is eventually resolved (it will never be over) everyone will have a reason why they would have done things differently for a better outcome.

It's similar to when an executors sale occurs on a house. The beneficiaries of the will always claim they could have sold it for more. Safe in the knowledge that they will never have to prove it.

2016 - government ignores it's own advisory committee and chooses NOT to put things in place.

And yes, many of us socially active made our mouths go at the time. But popular does wgat popular wants and nothing

changes.

I worked on an emergency planning project to identify the possible sites for field hospitals and cadaver storage for 4,000 bodies. Not for the government but for the NHS, because they knew we were over due for something to hit us, didn't think it would be worldwide though.

Yes. I think people aren't realising that local authorities and the NHS had regular emergency commitee meetings where these things were discussed and planned for. As one of my friends put it "basically we decide where to store the bodies"

Never had a reason in Jan/ Feb to mix the two here but I was talking to others and saying they should restrict travel.

Friends if mine were in Australia at the time, they should not have been able to return and back to normal life.

Not sure why I would spill these conversations onto a swingers site back then but offline, I was concerned and spoke openly about it..
