He was happy to have death squads targeting drug dealers and equally happy to turn a blind eye to innocent people being collateral in that..

Not sure this is a surprise, when they're shooting key workers etc it may backfire..

Have no issues with a hard line government policy on drug dealers, in alignment with the resources to help the addicts get off the shit they use and can recognise that its a popular policy there but its not one without consequences for innocent people too..

I don’t think you quite grasp the drug problem in the regions there or the effect that it’s having there.
