The above thread got too big and got closed.

A 4th death occurred today.

Dr.Alfa Saadu. A Top NHS doctor died for us all.

Again another immigrant and muslim.

I'm continuing this thread here to allow those that wanted to speak with understanding to to.

I suggest anyone new to read the initial thread.

It's quite clear the spirit and intent I had with that initial thread and sadly the thread got far to big to allow me a chance to reply to some.

It's also an eye opener to me and perhaps to you all as to how people read the same words yet form a different opinion and conclusion.

Be safe keep others safe stay indoors and Peace!

Haha no I think you stopped people and gave them food for thought.

Many had nothing to say of value and some paid attention to the thread in the first place.

It's sad when people jump on and dont read but it's also revealing of the characters and intellect at play.

Are you saying that immigrant muslim men are more likely to die from the virus, and therefore be more virulent carriers? That must be very worrying for the muslim community and those around them.

The sad story I read was that it was 4 British doctors who have died. Is there a need to marginalise them?

Will you include doctors and medical staff that aren't Muslim or immigrants if they also die? Just curious.

You have responded a number of times in this 2nd thread to those of a different opinion to you by saying reread the original thread. Just because thier opinion is different doesn't mean they haven't read the original thread saying that's a cop out and not conductive to debate which by opening this 2nd thread you have to expect.

Here's my response that got lost in the rush of replies on the first thread -

First the OP has take this info about the 3 doctors from my post on the previous thread that was highlighting just the 1 doctor.

My point was like many media outlets the news used the doctors sacrifice as a main new story because it suited thier narrative for the day. My point was there was that 2 other doctors who had also died earlier on the Frontline against coronavirus and in my opinion deserved equal respect and recognition. The fact that they are Asian and possibly Muslim is of no relevance. They are heroes of our country and should be remembered as such.

Then again I live in a very multicultural area I have Muslim, Sikh, Christians, a Buddhist, Atheists and even 1 who consider his religion as Jedi (the 2011 UK census had over 175,000 people who listed Jedi as thier religion).

Their religious beliefs have zero impact on our friendship and neither does the colour their skin. I respect them all based on the content of their characters.

It's the same with sexuality I've friends who sit at all ends of the sexuality spectrum it's just not relevant. Also nationality I lived in Spain for a couple of years in my 20s, I learnt Spanish and immersed myself into their culture and way of life. Today I have friends and contacts from across the globe.

The above doesn't just apply to my friends but to my workplace and work colleagues thier religion, skin colour, nationality or sexuality is irrelevant.

OP it's ultimately a minority of ignorant people who hate on others for thier religious beliefs, skin colour / ethnicity, nationality or sexuality. The fact is in this day and age for the majority of people these things are simply none issues and irrelevant. People can be great or a twat regardless of which categories of the above thy fall into.

Before bashing those or sending barbs back at those who are saying its irrelevant think for a second if everyone thought that these things were irrelevant then surely that would be the ideal place for a society to get to as then there would be no more haters. Maybe just maybe those saying it's irrelevant its because highlighting it for good or bad is still highlighting the differences and only by everyone making those differences irrelevant will we eventually achieve an all inclusive society.

It's not that simplfied, I do think Geography, where you live plays a role in that. My home town is easily the most ethnically diverse in our region hence my experiences but if you drive for just 40 minutes to the old mining towns on the coast the ethnic diversity is pretty much nil. It's like going back in time 50+ years any outsiders including white British are viewed with suspension and ignorance abounds when it comes to other cultures, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds. This is coupled with extremely low numeracy and literacy levels. I speak from experience as I work with 2nd and 3rd generation benefit households from these areas to try and change mindsets, educate and ultimate support them into employment and wider society.

Regarding brexit means racist to some folk yeah but it's not that simple at all. I know a range of people from various ethnic backgrounds including Asian Muslims who were all for brexit.

I read some of the first thread but it was just you telling people they were wrong.

The race/religion and skin colour of the doctors/nurses/care workers is completely irrelevant, they are all putting their lives at risk to save ours.

The fact that you need to highlight the race/religion of these people and try to give them more recognition than other doctors says alot about you.

When a crime makes the news, if criminal happens to be Muslim, their religion is part of the headline. White British people who commit crimes that make the news, don't ever have their religion mentioned.

When doctors who die fighting the Coronovirus die, and whom happen to be Muslim. Their religion is not mentioned in most stories or headlines. And if it is (like in here) it gets condemned.

The point I get from this is that the media deliberately skew stories to demonise British Muslims. Just look in the last thread. Loads of people even denying that prejudice against Muslims exists. Look at the support for Tommy Robinson, UKIP, EDL, etc etc, it absolutely exists.

Seems like a reasonable subject for discussion from the OP.

Im afraid I disagree, as far as I could see the OP wasn't attempting to elevate Muslim doctors above non Muslim ones or claim their sacrifice was greater.

It was a social comment, juxtaposed against the kind of media Muslims/Asians/foreigners usually get which tends to be negative.

I agree that the race/religion of people shouldn't be important, but I'm afraid in todays society it's so often demonstrated that it is.

Even here I've seen many threads where minorities are often reduced to commodities or stereotypes, often negative ones, yet the individuals that start threads of that nature don't receive anything like the indignation the OPs received here.

If we're going to challenge posters who mention race/culture at least let's be even handed about it.

I know Labour were purporting that to vote brexit was perceived to be racist. I, fortunately, voted to leave WITHOUT that view. In fact my decision was based on capitalism and complacency. .

Maybe just maybe those saying it's irrelevant its because highlighting it for good or bad is still highlighting the differences and only by everyone making those differences irrelevant will we eventually achieve an all inclusive society.

KJ x

Just a little point.

I think racism/intolerance is a bit more ingrained in our society than you think.

Brexit showed us that.

You think brexit is a result of racism?

Racism played a part of the propaganda program aimed at persuading people to vote leave.

Racism has nothing to do with the actual aims of brexit.

I know Labour were purporting that to vote brexit was perceived to be racist. I, fortunately, voted to leave WITHOUT that view. In fact my decision was based on capitalism and complacency. . "

Take a look at some of Vote Leave's anti foreigner or anti Muslim propaganda. I'm sure it's still all out there. How many people voted leave because of bollocks like that. No one knows.

As I said, racism has nothing to do with the true purposes of brexit. Like you said it's all about capitalism, transferring more wealth and power from those at the bottom of the pile, to those at the top.

In anycase. We're getting side tracked. Back to the media portrayal of Muslims?

"Will you include doctors and medical staff that aren't Muslim or immigrants if they also die? Just curious.

Include in what.....I suggest that you read the first thread and then this as I have suggested to the poster above to do as well.

I couldn't agree more. The OP is politicising the sad deaths of 4 brave and dedicated human beings to promote his own agenda. A cheap and shabby thing to do, in my opinion. They deserve respect due to their work and sacrifice, not due to their gender, ethnicity or origins.

"

I didn't say he said their sacrifice was greater nor that he is elevating them above other doctors. I'm saying that they deserve no more recognition than any other person, regardless of race, gender, social status or religious beliefs. ALL frontline staff are risking their lives to save ours.

If someone had made a post stating that white/christian doctors died but purposely leaving out other ethnic groups who are also suffering, I'd call them out on that too.

This virus does not pick and choose based upon skin colour, race or religion, all of those things should be totally irrelevant in this situation.

There's a lot of confusion like this around the purpose of this thread.

I think that probably is the case, I'm unsure that the OP and his responses have made things any clearer.

Sorry but I think the OP was making a social point not necessarily one about the tragic outcome, and it was in that vein I replied to your post.

In isolation this is a tragic human story, where race/religion is irrelevant, but in a wider frame it's also tragic that Muslims/Asians are largely demonised in the published and social media, and the 'invisible' individuals (who make up the mainstream, just like you and me) are still perceived negatively.

I'm married to a black man, during the years we've been together I've lost count of how many times I've heard him in animated conversation with perfectly nice people who've lapsed into xenophobic language, sensing his alarm they'll invariably say 'but you're alright, not like the rest of them', it's that kind of stereotypical thinking, where minorities are seen as a homologous group that creates the problem, so the OP highlighting the background of these doctors is relevant because the media would have done if they'd been convicted of some offence.

Its 6am now

I for the past 1 hour exactly came on and wrote a long long reply to refute a lot of those comments that were against this positive encouraging thread.

I just realised now that there really is no need for me to go further when its clear what I meant as many of you got it.

I think this reply is a perfect way to end this thread as its what I was trying to get all here to think about in a positive way.

I dont believe my 1 hour thesis to refute and explain would be understood anyway by many of you that couldnt even understand a simple thread.

Thank you

Also thank you to those that understood my intention, understood the purpose and supported either me or the values of what I was trying to address and stand up for.

I appreciate you had the courage to speak up and I thank you.

Oh you didnt agree with me? I thought you simply didnt read or you read and didnt comprehend.

Now it's even been spelled out to you by other posters here and instead you come all the way back to me and say you dont agree with me so you dont agree with anyone that agrees with me.

What dont you agree with exactly cos as far as I can see there wasnt anything to agree or disagree with it was a post about social dichotomy and the need for greater cohesion and less xenophobia in our globalised ethnic diversified society erm nothing else
