Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

Apologies for the title but I bet that guy who spent every weekend walking up and down Oxford Street with his plaquard stating our demise is now self isolating thinking "I told you so"..

Anyway the main reason for this post is the following...

The covid-19 sympton tracker app was brought online a week ago, it has had a little publicity and definitely not the amount it deserves.

It has been produced by scientists working at King's College university and Guys and St Thomas hospital trust.

Please download the app and start reporting daily, it's takes only a few minutes to set up, requires no personal data and will save lives..

It's tricky to find in the app store as it's new, even so, around 2 million people have downloaded it so far...

You can find it if you search on Google, etc. Due to forum rules I cannot add the site address.

BBC news reported on the 25th March- https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-52033210

The team behind it produced a Webinar on Monday which is on YouTube - https://youtu.be/VD1oNX_L6eU

It's a little dry but gives great context into the ongoing situation and what they want to achieve by using the app...

This is early days for them, 1 week in fact, and they need as many people as possible to help, by reporting daily, whether you are well or have any symptoms, they are able to track the spread more accurately and help the health service plan better in fighting this pandemic.

Please pass this on to your friends, family, neighbours, anybody... the more people that do the daily updates, the better the scientists working on this can understand how to deal with Covid 19.

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

I hope those that have downloaded the app have completed their daily update today..

Remember, the data that can be gained is only as good as the information that you enter on a daily basis..

It takes less than a minute to update, I'm sure we all have time for that now in our busy schedules..

Be extra vigilant what you click on, people are scared and vulnerable to all kinds of scams.

I don’t know anything about this app other than it’s collecting data about people it might have good intentions

I understand people being scared of downloading a new and unknown app, it's easy for someone with nefarious intents to use this for their own means.

That's why the links supplied are to a BBC news report and also a Webinar from the team behind the app.

As a scientific engineer, I can see that this app will help so much in the fight against covid 19..

I don't expect anyone to take what I state at face value but I do emplore you to search for covid.joinzoe, read the information on the site, check the independent reviews on the BBC and other news networks and if you are content the app is legitimate, download and start reporting daily.

Now I'm not going to dismiss this out of hand certainly without more research however

My background is science

Science has methods checks balances and verifications

Humans are traditionally unreliable data sources they lie, misunderstand, guess hope believe and imagine

Political opinion polls are one illustration, the word hypochondriac another , UFO and ghost sightings another

And absolutely at least 5 totally contradictory creator concepts are proven to be true by witnessing

I'm not sure what data they want from the app beyond how the nation's minds are being affected

Asymptomatics willie missed and symptoms of conditionins unintentionally twisted to fit Corona

Ask 100 people 20 days ago about their taste

Ask now

Even I fucking questioned my taste the other day

I absolutely know it was a psychological cause

We must be careful the data we obtain is of worth that's why we have controls and blind and double blind tests

Note I'm not dismissing it I'm asking sensible questions about its credentials and highlighting possible reasons it may be misinformation???

I totally agree, rubbish in equals rubbish out..

I too am in the sciences in test and evaluation which is why I understand the larger of data set you obtain, the more likely you are to obtain more accurate data and filter out the spurious results.

I'm sure the scientists behind this know full well how to deal with data from humans, it seems to be their speciality.

Personally, I would trust having this than burying my head in the sand and hoping it was just all a bad dream...

Now where did I put those ruby slippers? Come on Toto, there's no place like home, there's no place like home..

"Many vulnerable people do not have smart phones.. "

It's estimated 95% of the UK population have a smart phone or tablet.

So approximately 60 million people.

And it's not just the vulnerable that should be using this app, it's all of us.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to why some seemingly healthy people are dying.

Just imagine how good it would be if another group was identified as being vulnerable, and even better, a loved one of yours was amongst that newly discovered group and because of this discovery, was able to take extra measures to avoid the risk of infection..

How good would that be?

Well this app has that potential.

A simple app that takes a few moments to update daily..

What have you to lose?

Well given that the government was up until this week only counting hospital deaths there collective information is currently so up the wall. That a app like this is properly more correct from actual people.

Do science people have a wired sexual intention, i mine to be fair I've not ticket that of the job discrubion of men to do

My mum has a new smart phone simply because pre before in the middle of a Nokia and smart phone hers flaked it.

She did not know how to use it and after the tablet lessons I'm still recovering lol

She is in the high risk category but under 70 only just. And because I'm in the vulnerable group to we have had to separate. The guy in my building is vulnerable and lacking outside connection, i rang the housing officer who got the police around.

So many people are going under detected. And are like my neighbour not answering the door etc.. And alot wouldn't ring if they felt really unwell..

The statistics being issued are biased to those that are in the most serious condition and being admitted to critical care.

Add to that the national statistics this week for deaths that could be related but not confirmed and suddenly there is a massive daily death toll increase.

So, yes you are correct in thinking this could give a far more accurate indication of the actual numbers infected...

Now for the second part of your message, not quite sure what you meant, however wiring is an electricians job..

Or are you suggesting that electrosexual thing where eastictrickery is used to stimulate you...

Whatever you meant, us scientific geeky types do have sexual urges, great imaginations and are extremely good with our hands..

Some of have even studied enough and know where to find the clitoris...
