"Yea we're heading over late May SF to La and then onto Vegas, exciting times ahead" Personally Blocked, was going to send a message offering any help if looking for places along the way from San Fran to LA. So will just have to do it here and hope I get it right! DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING OF VALUE IN THE OPEN IN YOUR VEHICLE. It is an invite for homeless to break into your car. Assume you are going down Pacific Coast Highway PCH from San Francisco. It is a very picturesque drive with lots of overlooks of the ocean while towards the northern part of your trip. Santa Cruz is a nice little seaside town to stop at. Plenty of good restaurants, and a boardwalk with amusement rides. Bonny Dunes is a secluded Beach that is clothing optional. Monterey is interesting and has shops restaurants and some history along Cnnery Row. Unfortunately as in a lot of places in California it is in decline, Carmel is nicer and a little further to the south. They also have the 17 mile drive along the coast where they have the big gulf game. Hearst Castle is a bit further down, have heard a lot of good things about it but no personal experience. Solvang is a quaint Dutch town, and is a pleasant stop over. Pismo Beach is pretty cool with big sand Dunes and a lot of dune buggy out there. Some can be pretty impressive to watch and catch a ride on if in to that sort of thing. San Clemente is another nice beach town and a good stopping point. Santa Barbara would be next on the list with plenty to do for a stopover of a couple Days. Port Hueneme is a navy town so probably still has a few sleazy strip clubs around! Not much left after Santa Barbara until you get into the LA sprawl. Safe travels, grew up in Northern California after leaving England as a child. Was Stationed with the Coast Guard out at San Francisco Airport and would fly along the coast doing patrols and air sea rescues. Hope those that made the trip earlier had a good time, would be nice to hear how everyone made out on their trip | |||
