Central

Summer is a poorer time for weather, as it can be fairly cold, compared to nearby places. Often foggy, you may encounter sunny warm weather, to be engulfed in cold fog within a short period. Downtown is particularly prone to the mists coming in over the bay. You'll see the mist/fog roll down the hills. I'd avoid August for this reason. Spring and autumn are potentially much nicer.

Depending on the type of holiday you want, you can obviously get out of the city, into Napa and to see and do other things, including wine tours, the Redwoods etc. Local topography means that within a few miles you can find very different weather conditions. A drive across the Goldengate or Bay bridges will get you to travel options, giving you varied holiday experiences.

Review weather conditions by month, nearby experiences, beach options. Book early for popular trips, such as the prison etc.

SF, NY, London (in that order)

SF can get foggy in August, September is nice. April may and June was good last year too!

However, you just have to go in any direction for one hour and it's toasty hot again!

Moved here a year ago and loving it

Visiting at the end of April.

Are things opening up again? Some of the bath houses and clubs I was hoping to visit seem to be closed.

Any recommendations for places for a bi guy to visit? Any local tour guides willing to show me around?

Green Cove Springs

Agree about spring and autumn as best time of year to visit SF.

Stay off the rocks along the ocean. Sad to say while stationed there picked up quite a few floaters that got washed off the rocks.

Bonny Dunes to the South is the only clothing optional beach I know of.

Santa Cruz is a nice fun beach.

WATCH YOUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS

It is not the same place as it was in the 70 & 80's that I grew up in and was stationed at 86-89.

The libs have turned it into a shit hole in places. Homeless everywhere and will break in to your vehicle in a heartbeat to steal something that was left out.

Still a nice place to visit.

PCH Pacific Coast Highway, is a fun drive. Lots of quirky little places to stop at.

Went out to the track at Laguna Seca for a driving event this time last year. Stayed in Monterey for several days and drove up the coast to San Francisco from there. Scenic drive, unfortunately there was a lot of evidence of the wild fires along the way. Scenic none the less, like I said before. Make sure nothing of value is left out in the open the car such as bags, suitcases, purses, etc.

Pismo Beach was a nice place, as well as San Clemente back in the day.
